The younger nightmare wasn't even sure himself why exactly he had agreed to this; even after talking with his predecessor again, he had still been on the fence about actually actually going through with the visit.
But....really. Free beer was free beer. Better to take it with someone who didn't give damn at all about his problems--as far as he knew--than with someone who would only offer empty pity and useless attempts to "try and help". Drinking until he forgot about it altogether was a much preferable alternative, and far less frustrating in the long run.
Plus, there was the off chance of being able to pick a fight and blow off some steam while he was at it. Thinking on it, that was probably half the reason he even took the offer to begin with. And maybe a partial contributing factor to only finally showing up some twenty minutes later. At least his predecessor wasn't hard to pick out of a crowd.
Fortunately the Corinthian’s successor was just as easy to pick out of a crowd and that made it easy to signal his twin subtly. He had no intention of yelling over anyone or waving his arms over his head like a maniac and he was sure he’d been spotted. He was also unaware of his twin’s intention to attempt to pick a fight with him, not the reason he solicited the other Nightmare, but if provoked he would take the other up it. Leaning against the wall beside the door the Corinthian raised an eyebrow at his delayed twin and smiled wryly at his twin, “it took you long enough to make up your mind…shall we go inside?”
His twin got a brief nod in acknowledgment, but once he made it up to the other nightmare he only brushed past and entered the building.
"That's the reason I came, isn't it?" The number of people already inside earned a slight frown, the Corinthian still unused to such large crowds, but he made his way to the first open bar seat he spotted, fully expecting his predecessor to follow.
He watched his twin sweep past as though he were really entering the bar by himself and hadn’t received an invitation from the older Nightmare at all. Who the hell was paying for the drinks anyway? He shrugged it off, pretty sure his successor’s pride had taken some kind of blow by accepting his offer which was satisfying enough for him to follow the other into the bar and take a seat beside him. The crowds didn’t really bother the elder of the two as much, he’d grown used to them over the past forty years. Though in the beginning it wasn’t easy breaking those barriers of isolation and developing more social behaviors, “takes practice,” he said nodding to the crowded room, “I hope you’re not too out of your comfort zone
( ... )
The Corinthian only gave a slight snort in reply. He waved good-bye to his comfort zone the moment he contacted his twin, but the other nightmare didn't need to know that. Putting the blame entirely on the crowd kept his pride at least slightly more in tact that way.
"Whiskey." It was a little unlikely the place actually had any of the brands he'd grown fond of, so he may as well go with something easy. He just hoped it wouldn't take too long to kick in.
(( Ack, really? Blown transformers suck, but at least it got fixed. And don't worry about it~ The holidays eat everyone. We have family over as well, so I apologize for my fail, too. x_x ))
The older Nightmare could tell that this was going to be one very detailed conversation, without any emphasis on the sarcasm. Yes, a night filled with grunting, snorting and booze--but his expectations weren't exactly at their peak to begin with.
He had no idea how many shots of whiskey it would take to get his successor drunk to the point where he was at least social...but if they were anything alike it would probably take several and the First Corinthian was working really hard on lowering his own inhibitions, "so is there something on your mind or am I your trophy date for the evening, just sitting here and looking pretty?"
(Yeah, my family is eating my soul, well some of them are anyway. I'll be back on track in a day or two hopefully lol.)
"No, but we could go with that last one if it'll make you feel better." Whatever else the older nightmare wanted from him, he obviously wasn't going to get it anytime soon. The Corinthian hadn't come to talk, he came to get smashed, and he was going to do it as quickly and hopefully with as few interruptions as possible.
"You invited me to drink. That's what I'm doing." And from that tone his twin should apparently just be happy enough for even that.
Then again, at least he was talking.
(( Hopefully I will be, too. I wish you luck! o/ ))
"Indeed...I did invite you...but you can't blame me for being a little curious," the older Nightmare pointed out somewhat lamely before continuing, "anyone can drink themselves into a stupor to drown out their problems at any time, but you're drinking with me...I would have thought you'd prefer your own company...that's the only reason I asked."
Shrugs as he starts working on another of the same beverage. He could have said more, the wickedness in him wanted to push it a bit further by touching on the lonliness of getting drunk by himself. He figured he pushed enough so far. He didn't want his twin to do his wild animal routine, if prompted too much he'd run behind a bush and The Corinthian would never see him again. That would be a pity.
