Who: Sasuke and Deidara
Where: The beach
When: Last Sunday
Warnings: Just some fighting really.
Sasuke: Still nursing the shiner he had above his left eye, Sasuke found himself in foul temper and easily provoked. Which was how he'd landed himself amidst a challenge with a gender confused blond idiot. He never had a break when it came to blonds... He was pacing the beachfront, walking up and down the stone pathway bordering the wide expanse of white sands, awaiting Deidara's arrival so he could prove himself. He needed some way of showing himself he wasn't weak after the other night, and this seemed sufficient enough.
Deidara: Finding the whole situation amusing yet bothersome, Deidara yawned as he made his way down to the beach, slurping noisily on a juice box. He wasn't one for fighting, though he considered himself good at it. When he arrived at the beach he looked at the pacing teenager, deciding this was Sasuke. He'd never seen him though he knew Itachi from school.
Sasuke: In his left jacket pocket, Sasuke was compulsively playing with his lighter, flicking it open, then closed. Some people considered it a nervous twitch of sorts, but Sasuke knew better. He just liked fire, and having it close. It made him feel stronger, confident. So, when he noticed someone unmistakably male, yet still unbelievably effeminate watching him, he gripped his lighter tightly in his fist, and turned to face him. They'd not introduced themselves to one another, but his name wasn't one many people didn't know. However, Sasuke hadn't caught the blonde’s. "You that freak I was talking to earlier?" he questioned with a deliberate smirk.
Deidara: Deidara looked the other up and down for a moment. "Must be, un," he replied, ignoring the insult. He'd had it often. "Yep, must be," he repeated with a small laugh, "You’re just as little as I thought, un." It wasn't much for him to say so, as Deidara was on the short side himself, but he'd seen how it appeared to rile the other up and found it amusing.
Sasuke: Sasuke's smirk faded instantaneously. His fingers returned to flicking open the lighter and closing it in his pocket. The man opposite him had a voice quite a bit deeper than he'd anticipated. It was alarming in contrast to his smoothly composed and made-up face and figure. "I'm not little," said Sasuke with a bitter snap to his words. "How about we get this over with, all right?"
Deidara: "You're in such a hurry," he stated, stretching slightly as he slurped the juice from his box. When it was finished, he tossed the box in a near by wastebasket and pulled another he'd sneaked from lunch, opening it and started slurping from that too, though not as noisily. Deidara really could careless who won this fight, or if they even started it at all.
Sasuke: Frowning heavily, Sasuke withdrew his hand from his pocket and glared at the other man. "I'm in no hurry, I just see no point in standing here talking when the only reason we came was so I could prove that I could waste you." He started towards Deidara, slowly at first and then he stopped before the blond. "Don't think you can talk your way out of it."
Deidara: Deidara watched the other begin that monologue the overconfident get into when they believe they will win easily. "I haven't said anything against you attempting to waste me, un," he said, wiggling the juice box at him with the straw, not using his hands to hold it in his mouth.
Sasuke: Annoyance bubbled up inside of Sasuke. He'd said before that he'd not attempt to waste him, he simply would! He was an Uchiha, and he did not fail. At least, that's what Sasuke told himself. In times like these it was easier to ignore the struggles he'd had to get as good as he was. Unlike his brother who seemed naturally gifted at everything... Reaching out, Sasuke swatted the juice box from the other's mouth, clipping him across the face with his hand. "Stop wasting my time."
Deidara: Deidara looked down at the juice box in the sand, hardly noticing the strike on his face. He did notice it, but it wasn't enough to get a reaction from him. Pain wasn't something Deidara allowed to show very often. Looking back at Sasuke, though he didn't turn his head, he grinned a little. "So you a litter as well?"
Sasuke: That remark had caught Sasuke a little off guard. He had expected some sort of retaliation by means of something other than... well, words. "...No. I'm not." Without taking his eyes off Deidara, he moved towards the discarded juice box, picked it up, and tossed it into the trash. Then he mentally began trying to figure out why that made him feel like such a tool. "Are you just going to stand there?" he asked sharply.
Deidara: Deidara almost laughed when Sasuke picked the juice box up. He hadn't expected such a response himself. He contained himself though, keeping his face calm. "Perhaps, un... I haven't decided."
Sasuke: "Tch... you're acting like a damn Barbie doll!" A little sneer touched his lips, spreading across his face. "Afraid you'll break a nail or something, hn?" He couldn't resist. The other man looked like he tried way too hard on his appearance.
Deidara: "Barbie dolls are for children. And they must depend on others for movement," his voice was even and as calm as his face. He wasn't angry, partially amused. Many thought he cared too much about his looks, but it was far from true. He cared enough to look decent, as any would, but he hardly cared for himself as a girl would. With a swift moment, his palm struck soundly, but not hard at Sasuke's forehead, pushing him off balance for a moment.
Sasuke: This action stunned Sasuke. It wasn't often anyone but his nii-san struck him in such a way. He stumbled backwards, hand instinctively rising to touch his forehead, his lower lip almost in a pout before he realized what he was doing and glared in embarrassment, though it was likely Deidara didn't know the reasons for it. "You...! I didn't say you could touch me," he snapped. He didn't care that such a statement sounded ridiculous considering that they were supposed to be fighting.
Deidara: Deidara's eyebrow went up slowly, but his control over his amusement dwindled. Throwing his head back he laughed, then turned to walk around Sasuke, still laughing quietly to himself. That had been cute. The pout... he wished he had a camera on him.
Sasuke: Sasuke's shoulders lifted in a slight hunch, visibly marking his annoyance. He turned to follow Deidara's movements, grabbing him by the sleeve of his jacket to make him stop circling around him like some fashion-obsessed vulture. "I'm tired of waiting," he muttered, and swung his free fist towards Deidara's ribs.
Deidara: Deidara's hand shot down sharply to strike Sasuke's forearm. He stopped his circling and pulled out of Sasuke's grip, finding enjoyment in teasing the other and walked towards the water to watch it, but kept a close eye on the other.
Sasuke: Numb for a moment, Sasuke's arm fell to his side where he rubbed it, watching Deidara move away. He wondered if Deidara was trained in fighting too. He was fast, that was for certain. "What are you walking away for?" Sasuke called after him.
Deidara: "Because it's fun to pester you," he responded, honestly. "You say I'm eager for the fight, yet it seems to be you who is eager." Stopping by the water's edge he turned and looked back at Sasuke over his shoulder. "In the need to vent some form of frustration?"
Sasuke: "Shut up! I didn't say I wanted you making assumptions about me, acting like you know something! You don't... You don't know anything about me." Sasuke stalked towards the blond. He wanted to hit him, and hit him hard, but now he had some small doubts about whether or not he could do it. He had always been told to study his opponents, had he not? And ignoring that advice now was what would probably land him in deep shit if he wasn't extra careful.
Deidara: "I know you're a fool to be so easily provoked, un," he replied calmly, stepping away from Sasuke's approaching form. He didn't care if it looked as though he were running. Pitting someone's own strength and frustration against them was something he was good at doing. Sasuke wanted to hit him he could see, he would follow.
Sasuke: "Stop moving away from me," Sasuke grouched, fists balling up at his sides. And he did follow, easily goaded onwards unlike his thoughtful, very careful older brother. Though, Itachi was the last person on Sasuke's mind. Sasuke only wanted to knock Deidara around a few times, just to show this guy that he wasn't some kid. He wanted the other man to stop acting so damn calm and presumptuous!
Deidara: "Stop following me, un," he replied, "What are you a stalker?"
Sasuke: Sasuke faltered a moment in his step. Did this guy have no brain and suddenly forget why they'd even agreed to meet here...? "Stalking you!? Are you stupid or something?" Sasuke ran at Deidara and grabbed hold of his jacket, wrestling him to the ground near the water. Might as well get the fight rolling. Maybe he could make Deidara remember he wanted to fight by beating it into his skull.
Deidara: Deidara hit the sand and rolled away to keep from being pinned, slipping out from his jacket. Underneath was a thin, somewhat tight sleeveless grudge colored shirt. The wind from the ocean chilled him slightly but he didn't notice it. "You're funny, un," he stated, squatting down in front of the younger teen. "Why are you so hot headed?"
Sasuke: Sasuke got to his hands and knees, then sat back on his heels. He chose not to answer that question, instead flinging two handfuls of sand into Deidara's face before jumping up and moving closer again. He didn't like being laughed at or made fun of, and he really hated it when people asked him questions.
Deidara: He turned his face from the sand, letting it fall in his hair instead of his eyes. He stood as well, calmly brushing the sand from his hair and away from his face easily. Watching him closely, he suddenly darted forward so their faces were inches away. A smirk spread across his face as he whispered to him, "You wanna fight then? You're choice." He slammed his palm into Sasuke's shoulder, placing his foot behind Sasuke’s to make him trip.
Sasuke: At Deidara darting forward, Sasuke had stopped short before running face first into him. Which had been a mistake, he soon found out, the other man whispering a few short words and then sending Sasuke to his back on the sand. He wasn't quite sure how it happened, stunned for a moment as he lay there. But when he pulled his bearings back about him, he slammed his feet into Deidara's knees before rolling backwards and standing. It was about time he retaliated with something a little more physical.
Deidara: Twisting carefully so his knees weren’t injured badly, Deidara caught himself from falling and jumped back up, twisting to face him as he watched carefully for the other's next move.
Sasuke: "...What are you, a freaking ballerina or something?" Sasuke looked a little dumbfounded.
Deidara: "First I'm a Barbie, now I'm a ballerina? You need to make up your mind, un," he told him, raising an eyebrow.
Sasuke: "...Shut the hell up!" Sasuke brushed the sand off of himself. This was going nowhere fast. He wondered if this guy had taken gymnastics or something of the sort. He was insanely flexible and quick, both of which put Sasuke at a bit of a disadvantage so far.
Deidara: "I'm told I'm incapable of such a thing," he said, with a shrug. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a cigarette and lighter and lit one. It didn't seem like Sasuke was really going to try to fight him. The kid was mostly talk, talk and dirty tricks like throwing sand.
Sasuke: Although he smoked as well, Sasuke made a disgusted sort of look at Deidara lighting up a cigarette. He spared a brief glance away, looking back to the road and sidewalk not too far from him, contemplating leaving. But what would that prove? asked a voice in his head. When he looked back at Deidara, he seemed a little more calm and concentrated. "...What's the point in smoking in the middle of a fight?"
Deidara: "I see no fight," he replied. "Looks like you brought me here for nothing since nothing's really gone on except we've pushed each other to the ground a few times."
Sasuke: He half made a move to reach for the lighter in his pocket, wanting to touch the cold steel exterior once again for reassurance, but Sasuke did not. "Well you kept skipping around like a little girl, what am I supposed to do?"
Deidara: "Attack with some form or style?" Deidara said, waving his hand as though that were obvious. "I've heard you do or 'ave done martial arts, un. You've just come and leapt forward like some baby street fighter."
Sasuke: "I wasn't aware that we were being technical," Sasuke fired back bitterly, more so upset at himself, because Deidara was right. His formless attacks earlier hadn't been wise and he was lucky Deidara hadn't hit him with something more severe than a few pushes thus far.
Deidara: "Let's not get technical then, un," he said, shifting his weight to his left foot. He let out a long stream of smoke from his lips and let his eyes narrow in a suggesting smirk to show he wanted to fight if Sasuke did.
Sasuke: Nodding his head, Sasuke inched closer to Deidara, more ready this time than he had been initially. It was odd to be talking somewhat respectively here when earlier they'd been spouting off nothing but borderline nasty remarks to one another. But, to Sasuke that was what fighting was all about. Respect. You didn't fight someone you had no respect for, because it earned you nothing. Deidara seemed capable of holding his own, and even had in the beginning when they'd only been speaking to one another over the journals. That seemed a worthy trait to Sasuke, and nothing Deidara had done so far had said he was anything less than worthy.
Deidara: Deidara crushed his cigarette in the sand and set it next to his jacket to throw away later. he stretched a little and cracked his back. "So you do want to then, un?" he said grinning. he crouched down, barely bending his knees so he could move easily and watched him closely, eyes on his knees and elbows to watch how he would move.
Sasuke: There were few people on the beach today, at least in their vicinity, and none of which were paying them any mind. Sasuke liked that. Relaxing his muscles and body, one hand guarding his head, the other raised up around his jaw, he said, "Of course. Why else would I be here?"
Deidara: "Getting a tan?" he said smirking. His hands went up to his stance, different from Sasuke's, one arm almost fully extended, then other held near the other arm's elbow. He continued watching Sasuke's knees and elbows, waiting for him to move.
Sasuke: One thing Sasuke liked about this boxing stance was that, unlike most other forms of fighting, boxing worked backwards. Though, Deidara, having been trained in martial arts, would probably catch on to it quickly, it would still be useful. Sasuke also had in his advantage being a southpaw. A left-handed fighter. This made most people who fought against him, as most people were right handed, have difficulty with him. However, Sasuke's disadvantage was that he was less skilled in boxing than any other forms of fighting he knew. He had to be careful. "I'd look good with a little more color, hn? But no, I'm not." He just didn't feel like rushing in just yet would be wise, though... in boxing it was best if you set the pace before your opponent did.
Deidara: Sasuke must not have noticed his paralleled stance instead of mirrored one as it would have been with a right handed opponent. He watched him closely, then moved forward. His style was mixed with martial arts and fighting he'd picked up on the streets. His movements were quick and fluid. He did nothing but catch Sasuke's hand against the back of his own. Many people found his style hard to fight against as it was mostly a defensive but just as easily offensive style. His hands were blocking a gaze at his face, as most styles depended on watching your opponents face or eyes; it was frustrating to go up against.
Sasuke: Boxing was instinctual, and the key factor in it was to always keep your guard up, and move your feet. Chin low, that was another thing. You got your chin knocked the wrong way, it could really mess up your head and lose you a fight. So, he started to move his feet, circling around Deidara and focusing his breathing. Sasuke knew the basics of boxing only, and anything further was undeveloped for him now. All he had to rely on were his guts and instinct, both of which came in excess for him. He wasn't familiar with Deidara's style, and not seeing the other's face was irritating, but he didn't need eye contact to rattle Deidara's brain around. Pushing with his left foot, turning his knee in and swinging from the hips, Sasuke threw a straight punch towards Deidara's head. Whether Deidara blocked the punches or not didn't matter. Bare fisted as they were, these punches would hurt and break down resistance. Too many hits and one's arms could be rendered weak and useless at your sides.
Deidara: Deidara shifted as Sasuke moved, keeping his exact stance together. As Sasuke moved to strike his head, his arm barely moved up, blocking the punch not at the fist but at the inside of his elbow. Bon sao. It struck the pressure point there. To many of those and Sasuke's arm would go numb. With a twist of his wrist, he pushed Sasuke's hand away in a wide circle, causing Sasuke's side and shoulder to be exposed, his other arm unable to guard as his arm was in the way. Deidara planted his palm on Sasuke's side, striking him sharply.
Sasuke: The sharp strike was alarming, but Sasuke held himself together well. If that happened again, he told himself, he'd merely push in against Deidara. Boxing was one style that required no distance at times. Punches could be delivered at the closest ranges and still be damaging. For now, he stepped back and kept moving, catching his breath, eyes on Deidara as he took up his stance again. If you couldn't think about what you did wrong, you could easily get hit again, not something he wanted to have done. What the hell kind of style is he using...?
Deidara: Deidara expression didn't move. He let Sasuke catch his breath. One thing his style had against boxing what that it didn't move about, bouncing about that could have energy channeled to other things. His breath hadn't changed, nor had he broken a sweat at all. he kept his guard up again, keeping his eyes and face closed from view. He watched Sasuke's dominant elbow. The wrist moved twice as slow as the hand. The elbow moved four times. It was easy to watch, easy to track the direction the fist would go.
Sasuke: Sasuke had good amounts of stamina from all of the sports he took part in, especially from his swimming and the other martial arts he did. That helped with his boxing, being able to keep moving. What it did not help with was that Deidara's style was built to put off styles like that which Sasuke was using. Pushing off with his right foot and twisting, Sasuke threw a low punch to Deidara's gut with his right hand, all the while keeping his eyes on Deidara, trying to figure out what the other would do next.
Deidara: Deidara's hands shifted down to block with pak sao, sharply striking the middle of Sasuke's fore arm. He took a step back as he did, into the reversed opposite stance. Deciding he had blocked enough, he knocked his hand away and moved forward - always keeping his feet in his stance, though they were moving - trapping his other hand against his chest and struck his ribs, right under his chest, pushing him back, then stepped up to kick his stomach. If he blocked it, his foot would come right down, his body guarded as his hands were still in its stance.
Sasuke: Sasuke hadn't blocked it, and was struck, pushed back once again. He was cursing mentally, unable to figure out what to do and his one arm was feeling funny. This wasn't how it was supposed to be happening! Deidara was quickly setting his own pace, and Sasuke was struggling to find his own again. He began to duck and weave his head, body moving as well as his feet, carrying him around Deidara before he pushed in once more, this time closely and using a power punch, his dominant left hand striking hard at Deidara's lower left side and back as he moved. Hopefully this would hurt him just a little, maybe keep him moving slow.
Deidara: Deidara twisted his side a little, but he was still struck soundly. His elbow trapped Sasuke's arm, twisting his own body around and struck Sasuke's face with his elbow. It was a street style. Very crude, but it didn't bother him. he continued twisting, holding Sasuke's elbow. Where the elbow went the body had to follow. It was true about the head to, but he wasn't going to strike Sasuke like that, even though the other had tried himself. Finally releasing him, he stepped back and dropping into his stance again, ignoring the throb in his side.
Sasuke: The elbow struck Sasuke in the right eye rather abruptly. Sasuke was mentally cursing not having had his guard up, and he took a tumble back upon being released, landing on his ass on the sand with a pained grunt. He took a brief moment to recollect himself, appearing disgruntled and unpleasant as he glared up at Deidara with his one open eye. "Dirty bastard...!" he snarled at him, scrambling back up to his feet, not bothering to brush away the sand.
Deidara: "I just took a shower," he informed him, sighing when he saw how angry he was. Standing up straighter, dropping his hands, though he was ready to move if Sasuke attacked him, he looked at Sasuke, obviously upset. "I won’t fight you when you're in a blind rage like you are, un. If you want to be good at fighting you can't let how another fights bother you so much, un. Martial arts are supposed to teach that. You didn’t see me get so angry when you struck me."
Sasuke: "Quit talking to me like I don't know that!" Sasuke was mad for more reasons than the comment exchange between himself and Deidara. And he was taking out his frustrations on this freakish blond, or had been trying to... until Deidara proved to be a better fighter, in which case being bested by the androgynous male wasn't doing him much good at all. He looked away, out to the water, shoving both his hands into his jacket pockets again, one hand consistently flipping open his lighter and closing it. His eye still hurt, and his arm still felt a little funny, but he was trying to disregard both things and cool off.
Deidara: Deidara sighed softly, eyes trailing down to the hand in Sasuke's jacket, watching the movement, knowing it. "You like fire too?" he asked, slipping his own out for a moment. He didn’t come to school to make enemies. Nor did he come to the beach to make one either.
Sasuke: Sasuke's hand stopped instantly. Most people ignored his habit. Naruto certainly did, and his brother hadn't questioned it before, nor had Sakura. "...I might," Sasuke muttered, wondering what Deidara's hair on fire would look like. The thought made him smirk a little.
Deidara: "My parents sent me away because I do, un," he said, more to himself to Sasuke. He sat down on the sand with a sigh, resting his chin in his palm as he fiddled with his own lighter, flicking it open and letting it burn for a while before closing it and stopping the flame and repeating the process.
Sasuke: Rubbing his eye with one hand, the other still holding his lighter in his pocket, Sasuke shrugged his shoulders. "Good for you... I didn't ask."
Deidara: "I wasn't talking to you," he said in his defense, eyes narrowing slightly. Standing, he picked up his jacket and pulled it on. He hated thinking about his family, his foster home they sent him to. He opened and shut his lighter once more then slipped it into his pocket, slowly walking back to the street.
Sasuke: Sasuke let the blond walk away. Even though he still didn't know Deidara's name, he found himself not caring. The youngest Uchiha's pride was shot down another notch, and he just felt like standing there for a bit and... thinking.
