Step 2: Sewing while still figuring out what to do exactly

Jul 22, 2006 02:10

So basically I just threw out all the research and just did what I planned from the beginning. It's too hot for sleeves and multiple layes plus I couldn't find proper shoes. I did add the headdress, although my friend was trying to design a headdress for me from the beginning. I sewed the over skirt first so that I could start the embroidery. The embroidery took alot more time than I thought it would. I figured if I did nothing but embroidery for two weeks I would have it done. Didn't happen. I still couldn't finish it, so I just did the border. When I got bored with the embroidery I started with the petticoats. I ended up having one layer of muslin then one layer of tulle. Over those I have a multilayered tiered petti that I can use if I ever decide to do a bustle. I ended up having to do a bustle after I figured out I flared the overskirt too much. :p

I'm still looking for fabric for my top.

(note: all these entries are backdated. I'm really writing these in august hence the confusing mixture of past and present tense and jumping back and forth. this is probably coherent only to myself as I'm writing it. sorry if there is actually someone reading this mess)
