you know, i enjoy fandom. i genuinely do. its like going to a carnival: the fics, the arts, etc.

oh, yeah. sharing the fangirling.

so, in that sense, i'm a smallville fangirl. just look at my tumblr, i'm fully participating in the spamming and reblogging. especially of the clois-love. from childhood on i've been a clois fan, started from the comics and cemented by LnC in the 90s. and i am a devout Lois Lane fangirl. she is a character i've admired and enjoyed for over a decade.

so, all those aspects of fangirling considered - of fandom, of clois and of lois lane - they all collide in smallville. not neatly, either. i will openly admit, without fear of censure (no thanks to a certain pro-clois comm >XP), that i am only a "half-glass" fan of smallville.

i try my best to be a good, devoted fangirl to my fandoms. i really do. but smallville makes it hard, with all the wrong that happens there. i mean, their version of clois finally happened. and i can't fully enjoy it. it just....looks weird.

GOD i'm glad i finally admitted that!

i don't know what it is. do i not buy the chemistry between the two? i know i didnt like the evolution of clois that smallville put together. i also quite dislike their development of the lois lane character and story. or maybe, also because despite not being a clana shipper, i definitely bought their relationship and connection on SV. (yeah i said it!)

then, of course, there's the fact that i think the show's overall production started going to the dogs about halfway through its whole run. what a coincidence! it just hit me: michael rosenbaum probably jumped ship while it was still sailing strong lmfao (i adore him sfm btw *v*)

anyway. i'm not dissing erica durance. imo she's got a really interesting personality version of lois lane. i just very much dislike what the smallville PTBs did with her: which is, after her first few intro episodes, dropping the ball over and over and OVER again.

as for the SV people screwing up since season 5/6, i heard that its because partway through SV went through a change in management. which totally explains everything to me. the show mostly became very piece-y, kinda incoherent, sometimes even slapped together.

(shit. i just realized i could just keep on ranting on the subject ad nauseum - more than i already have - yikes. time to close)

SO. i kinda feel like this final season is SV's attempt to appease the 'ship & genre purists (of which i am one) in an overdramatic fashion.

BUT i will continue in my attempt to be a good, devoted fangirl anyway.

the end.

fangirl, smallville
