The flooring guy visited again on Thursday, and the baseboards are now finished. Unfortunately, The Laminate Store sold me the wrong materials to handle the bits where the fireplace and the bookcase in the den meet the new flooring, so . . . there's another visit in my future, and another run out to Duluth to return and pick up more items. 22 feet of quarter rounds. I wonder if I could save myself about 40 bucks in labor and just cut and install these things myself . . .
I'm playing chess this weekend while the company picnic occurs up at Lake Lanier Islands for the third year in a row. It seems like there's a scheduling conflict like this every year, but this time I decided that the company can do just fine at horseshoes, volleyball, and pasty bodies ill-suited for swimwear (including mine) without me. I picked up a win last night (unearned) when my opponent, who hadn't competed in 19 years, inexplicably dropped a pawn and a rook in quick succession. The game looked like a dead draw at the time. I may stand a chance at some money this weekend, in spite of being rusty myself. Next round is at 2 PM Eastern US time.
We're still trying to figure out the content of the mix CDs, but the Final Results for the game have finally been posted, so now everyone else who played knows we won, and can start grumbling about it. Onward, Deviant Solutions!
