A call for musical input

As mentioned recently in this journal, our team did win Get A Clue a few months ago. Now comes the hard part - organizing next year's game. In years past, music CDs have been compiled for the various teams to listen to while they solve the puzzles, drive around town, and try not to get lost too often.

I know what kind of music I like, and I know what's appeared on the CDs for many years in a row now. In fact, we plan to break the five-year streak of Tainted Love appearing in one form or another. But I don't necessarily know what kind of music other people like, and what can generally be found acceptable by total strangers in a car.

There's a generation gap as well. It will have been nearly ten years since I left Tech with my Masters, and I can't even say for sure whether they've even heard of Talk Talk, Jerry Rafferty, or Berlin, now that the young 'uns have been exposed to covers of that music in the last few years.

So this is a wide open poll, and a variation on that "desert island" question. If you knew you were going to be trapped in a car for twelve or more hours with some complete strangers, what music would you bring with you? It can be something you think everyone would like and want to introduce them to. It can be something good/unusual that no mainstream radio station would ever play. It can be something humorous. It can even be mainstream itself. I just need some ideas, because we'll probably be using these suggestions to counteract the stuff I want to play. :)

The "Closer to Spice" mix, as played by tsarin for the RMTA-folk a few years ago, is already on the playlist.

Please feel free to reply at any time. We probably won't start burning the discs until March 2005, and there will be a minimum of four discs given to each team.
