I just finished The Case of the Purloined Pages, the fifth book in Patricia Rice's
Gravesyde Priory Mysteries series. At this point, it is a little difficult to remember exactly who all the characters are, but I managed. I am so glad that Clare and Hunt are finally married!
Highlights:
- Clare: Her next book would most likely have a title like Clandestine Tryst in the Bibliophile's Labyrinthine Stacks or Haunted by the Widow's Cryptic Manuscript.
- Minerva to Clare: It seems a curate is the ideal person to ask questions. People simply think he is making polite conversation.
- Finally, the purloined pages appeared, 80% through the book.
- The captain turned to His Grace: I fear we have locked your librarian in the dungeon. It’s a long tale. Brandy would be wise.
- Paul to Minerva as the scent of jasmine wrapped around them, and he inhaled appreciatively: Did Miss Lavigne give you one of her vials of perfume? I will learn to find you by the scent.
She looked surprised but sniffed as if just now noticing the perfume: It’s a lovely fragrance, but it’s not mine. - And when it came time for the wedding couple to speak their vows, Patience and Minerva harmonized on a Mozart waltz about cherishing life, which left everyone tapping their toes as Paul stepped up to read the wedding service.
