*yawn!*
Aunt Bek woke me up at 8:30am today to go vote. Well, of course I couldn't vote because you have to be 18. But Aunt Bek says that for anyone 18 and older, voting is not only a right, it's a privilege that not everyone in the world has. In fact, American women (like Aunt Bek) have only been able to
vote since 1920, so Aunt Bek takes it very seriously as a big responsibility and an opportunity to help make change in the world.
Voting is how Americans decide things like who the next President is going to be, and about local, state, or even national laws. (Aunt Bek has been really worked up about a couple of issues in particular, so we're both glad that it's finally Election Day. She's voted, so now all there is to do is wait and see what happens.)
While we're waiting for the results, here's a neat site that asks, "What
If the World Could Vote on America's next President?" Even though I can't legally vote, I cast a vote there - you can even see the results broken down by country.
And speaking of countries, only a few days before we leave for the UK!
