Maybe I’m a little fussy, but when I order toast, I have come to expect a hot crispy slice of bread with butter on it. Lately I’ve been receiving a hot slice of bread with butter on it. What happened to my crunch? That’s like the best part of toast, with out it, it’s not toast. I asked recently what’s up with this bread? I was told, that many people don’t like ‘scorch’ marks on there toast, so they only lightly toast it now and I should ask to have it extra toasted. Excuse me? I understand many people are deathly afraid of flavor, but since when do we change the essence of a word to satisfy them? Why, when I order toast, should I have to specify ‘please make it crispy, and I’m ok I with a little char’? If they want hot bread with butter then that’s what they should order.
I pity the poor bastard who tries to hand me a decaf with soy cream and splenda when I order a coffee.
