I was somewhat skeptical before, but it looks like it's definitely going to be worth purchasing for the new bonus features alone... Including brand new audio commentary! Yay!
Oh, my god. New commentary? This is the best news I could have possibly hoped for. And look at it! So pretty! It looks like I could entertain myself for hours with the box alone. I mean, I'd be buying it even if they just shoved the old disks together and re-labeled them, but it's nice to know I'm getting something special, too, haha.
RESEARCH TRIP, what? ASjgsdghlslkj expedited shipping plz.
The "research trip" thing totally reminded me of my dad; he's a history teacher and he'd justify the most ridiculous purchases for "class-related purposes." (Wait, should I be stating this publicly on the internets? Haha!)
Oh yeah. I was going to buy it anyway, but I wasn't, like, overly excited or anything. However, now that I know that there's going to be new commentary, I want to run to Best Buy and pick it up the very second the store opens on the 28th!
I saw the box set in the flesh on Thursday night, and it's prettty damn sweet. It actually is a Trapper Keeper with velcro closure and everything. It's not hard plastic-covered cardbord, though. It's more of that plastic that soft binders are made out of.
However, when I heard that Amy, Stephen, and Paul don't get any residuals from the show, I kind of got sad. They deserve something.
Oh wow. I can't wait for the box set. Were you able to find out any other details about the bonus features--i.e. how many new episode commentaries are included?
I was really surprised to learn that Amy, Paul and Stephen don't get any residuals from the show. It's a shame, because SWC is probably making more money now than it was on Comedy Central back in 1999-2000.
I was at the Apple store event the other night and they mentioned that they don't get any residuals - very upsetting! They actually didn't really seem to know about the Trapper Keeper at all. Somebody asked them about it and they were really puzzled, and after a couple of minutes Paul seemed to somewhat remember hearing about it. They were asked if there were any new bonus features and they didn't know, and couldn't even remember if they did new commentary for it!
Haha, I'm doing the same thing! The cheap part of me knows that pre-ordering will probably be cheaper, but the impatient part of me will just DIE if I don't have it the day it comes out. Such difficult decisions!
I wish I could just have the box set right now. Haha. If you're ordering from Amazon, it'll be the same price regardless of when you order. Best Buy USED to have it available for pre-order for $38.99, but I just checked and now it's $44.99. They always have DVDs on sale during the first week of release, so I'm wondering if it'll be $39.99 when it comes out. Amazon has the best price, but I'm hesitant to order from there because their free shipping has gotten REALLY slow.

However, that packaging? Makes me flail about with GLEE.
