This fic is all about Powerful!Protective!Merlin, which is one of my favourite tropes. I really love Arthur in this fic as well, from his first lines to his reaction to discovering Merlin's magic. There are some extremely funny bits in there as well.
Merlin fired off a golden arrow of light behind them, and there was the whinny of a horse and the thump of a body hitting the ground.
“Continue,” he said. “I’m listening, honestly.”
“You’re not, you’re picking off an ambush!” said Arthur, affronted. “I’m trying to be understanding and you’re casting spells!”

This is one of my favourite first time fics. I love the way the magic reveal is handled here; lol, magical mice. Honestly this is one of the most hilarious fics I've ever read, while still keeping an air of seriousness about itself. Both Arthur and Merlin are wonderfully written and totally in character.

This is a more serious fic. Arthur discovers Merlin's magic, but does not tell Merlin that he knows. His father forces him to attend the execution of a sorcerer that resembles Merlin and Arthur has nightmares of Merlin being executed. Arthur is wonderful in this fic, as is Merlin. It is wonderfully written and has a beautiful ending.
