Character Number: First
Character: Shiki Nanaya (He goes by Nanaya more often than his first name, Shiki)
Fandom: Melty Blood
Personality:
Nanaya, first and foremost, is a killer. He's cool and competent and doesn't bat an eye at spilled blood. Being the reflection of the emotions Shiki Tohno never used, he represents the monster that Tohno Shiki fears most. He approaches his hobby of killing with a nonchalant personality and a chilly smile, seeming to revel in the philosophy of the moment. He rarely refers to the act itself as killing, instead preferring metaphors, off the wall sayings or just plain invented words. Nanaya also applies these philosophical words to much of everything he does, adding a chilling intelligence to his already cold demeanor.
As a person, Nanaya is rather carefree and doesn't give a flip about the consequences of his actions. Even if he loses a fight or has a near death experience, he takes it as if he was just taking a next step in a hike. Insults and other nonsense blow right by him and he'll answer it with a smile. He truly believes he has one goal, which is to kill everything at least once.
Outside of this, Nanaya does have another side which, while odd, he doesn't hide in the slightest. While self-serving, he enjoys his partnership with White Len and doesn't mind catering to her whims. When it comes to other young looking girls, he is very much the same. He avoids bringing harm to them and much prefers if they were good people so he could continue to spoil them. It can be rather creepy and, unfortunately, is rather creepy. However, White Len has him on a short leash so anything he ever wanted to do is pretty much impossible.
Much like Tohno before him, he has a way with girls. While Tohno may be slightly oblivious of the fact, Nanaya seems to recognize it rather well. He may tease and taunt girls to get a reaction but, in the end, if they aren't young and have special abilities, he may end up killing them.
Either way, Nanaya is a complete sociopath. He kills for the sake of seeing new reactions to death and doesn't experience emotions like normal people. However, he will not kill someone who has no special abilities because, in his words, “seeing one death of the sort is like seeing them all”. By that right, in a world where killing isn't quite so permanent, he does not fight those he has fought before because it would be boring.
History:
Melty Blood is a fighting game. Which means history is rather lacking but I will detail Nanaya's history as well as I can.
Shiki Tohno is the main character of the Tsukihime/Melty Blood series. When in great danger, his instincts often take over and these lead him to perform great feats of speed and acrobatics and he mercilessly slaughters his foe while in this state. As a character, Tohno hates killing so these instincts of his became greatly feared by his own self.
When the vampire Wallachia awoke in Misaki City, he used his ability to bring to life the greatest fears of the people of the town. One of those was Tohno's fear, which materialized as Shiki Nanaya. Nanaya represented everything about Tohno that Tohno hated in himself. With this newly found freedom, Nanaya gleefully took to killing all he could find. But soon enough, Wallachia was defeated and without that power supporting him, he vanished.
Created from the remains of Wallachia was White Len who immediately used that very same power and since someone feared Wallachia, he was reborn. In a power recursion, Wallachia recreated everything including Shiki Nanaya. Being free again, Nanaya decided he had a purpose. He had to kill Kishima Kouma, the man who slaughtered all of the Nanaya family (Shiki Tohno's real family). The grudge that Tohno never carried, Nanaya had. After killing Kouma, Wallachia was defeated elsewhere. Feeling himself fading away again, Nanaya accepted his fate but then came White Len. They entered into a contract, one where Nanaya would give White Len his prana so she could exist and White Len would use her abilities to support Nanaya's existence.
Magical abilities should not work like that but canon says differently. But that is where Nanaya's story ends.
Timeline: Post Melty Blood: Act Cadenza, White Len route
Abilities:
Unlike Shiki Tohno, Nanaya has full access to his abilities anytime he wishes. His speed rivals those of vampires in short bursts, capable of moving faster than the super-human eye can see. Running along walls and the ceiling is an everyday thing for him. His knife hand can slash seventeen times in a single stroke, making it a lethal move. Because of his constitution, even after taking mortal wounds, Nanaya can still move and act normally for a few minutes before dying.
Aside from that is his ability to use his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. This is an ability that lets the user see the fated death of anything and attack it, killing the target. Immorality, regeneration, and reincarnation are absolutely ineffective against this ability. The biggest thing that inhibits this ability is that the user must slash at the lines or stab at points with a sharp object. These attacks can be avoided like normal.
Nanaya, however, dislikes using this ability. It takes away from killing so he rarely, if ever, will use it.
Another eye power he possesses is the Pure Eyes, which gives him the ability to “see that which cannot be seen”. In short, ghosts, spirits, illusions, and things that are hidden from normal human sight can be seen as clear as day to him.
He also has a nasty 6th sense which lets him sense when someone is attacking him, no matter what direction they are coming from. Surprise attacks never land on him since it is practically precognition.
Also to note: He is extremely knowledgeable about the human biology. If he ever felt the urge, he could do complex heart surgery without a pause.

A quick step to the side, a dip at the hip, a quick twirl; fighting truly was like dancing. A lightweight play on ice, one you would go to your local rink to see. It would be a beautiful musical filled with singing, dips, back flips, and other feats of gymnastics. Nanaya felt this exact feeling while doing his own pirouette, dodging what certainly would be a fatal strike from his longtime rival, Kishima.
Hmph, nearly every blow swung by this beast could probably sunder Nanaya into two but the thought didn't bother him in the slightest. He just neatly moved out of the way and interrupted with knife slashes of his own. No single cut was fatal nor were they all that painful but something about “death by a thousand paper cuts” had ridden well with Nanaya today.
It didn't take long for him to grow tired of the sport. A thousand slashes were a lot and his opponent moved slow enough to be rather predictable. After allowing a fist to go under his arm, Nanaya simply sliced off his head, granting Kishima a quick death. The feeling that flowed through him was wondrous, yet another sense of satisfaction. He put his knife away and stuffed his hands into his pockets so he was back in his normal neutral position.
“Let your soul scatter in vivid color. Perhaps you'll suffocate a bug in your passing.”
A taunting enough exit worthy of this killer. He set off, unknowing of his next target. The boy had simply just picked a direction and put one foot in front of the other. Life was much like that, taken one step at a time. You didn't need any grand plans to “win” or do anything substantial. All you needed was a brain, two arms, and two feet.
One step. Two steps. Three steps. Four.
Everything else couldn't matter less.
Sample journal entry:
Ah, is this what it has come to? Resting in peace was never an option in the first place. The devil would never have me in his presence. When two people are exactly alike, they can't stand each other or so I hear. I doubt I could replace the leader of hell either way.
Besides, I have a cute master already. If I cheat on her, there will be more to pay than I can earn in one life. Minimum wage jobs simply don't offer enough to even live so what can I expect?
Oh, that's right. My current situation. It doesn't matter where I am and who rules. As long as I have you and me, I can live happily. If you want to have a fairytale life, I suggest being able to regrow an arm or two. I can't guarantee a fun time outside of that.
