This is a letter a recieved today at summer school:
To: Desert Vista Summer School Parents, Students, and staff
We recently received a report that one of our students had died over the weekend. Initial reports indicated that Bacterial Meningitis was the possible cause of death. The Maricopa County Department of Public Health officials were contacted and we recieved directions from them as to how to handle this report.
*Health officals have determined based upon information provided to them that the death of this student was not due to Bacterial Meningitis.
*Even though officials do not require further action on our part, to be assured that everything is in order and clear for public use, we have asked that an environmental hygienist, do an assessment.
It is our hope that this information will reassure you as well of the safety in useing our facilities. Should you have further questions regarding this matter, please call the Maricopa County Department of Public Health and ask to speak with a surveillance nurse.
At first i thought how scary that was that there was some disease at school but then some pointed out to me that it was a false alarm. Then i thought how much it must suck to die during the summer while atending summer school.
