Best Christmas Ever? (part one)
So, the snow is my step-dad's boyfriend, and he, his buddies and their snowmobiles have headed up north to go snowmobiling. Or they're leaving in the morning. I'm not sure. Because of this excursion of theirs, we did Christmas tonight.
It was quite possibly the best Christmas haul I've gotten from my mom and step-dad in... 13 years? That one being the one where I got a beeper. Remember those? Back when cellphones were as big as landline phones? XD
Anyway. My mom's been getting overtime at her job for months now, generally 10+ hours of overtime a week. She went all out on Christmas gifts. Pics of the gifts beneath the cut. Sorry for the blurry, but phone cameras suck. XD
Starting with the lame one. Which isn't that lame. Nice big 52oz mug with an ice pack that hangs in the center, so now I won't have to take my 16oz DisneyWorld mug for water at work.
The Child Theif by Brom. I loved The Plucker and I'm excited to devour this almost 500 page novel.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World - which I beat earlier this year as a rental, but now I own it and can replay the game. *A* And Paprika, which is such an awesome awesome movie if you haven't seen it.
My sister got me these super cute bookmarks to go with...
The Japanese cookbook she got me, which goes with the rice cooker my mom got me.
My mom got me a bunch of cross stitch frames, a new magnetic pattern board, a pattern magnifying ruler, and a lap stand.
Then 6 things of aida cloth in different colors: antique white, light oatmeal, hunter green, light blue, black, lilac. Then in the short cuts pack: white, ivory and antique white.
And then that expensive gift she teased me about (and exaggerated on the cost of)? Wasn't one item. It was three color caddies packed full with floss cards. For those not familiar with DMC floss, one skein is $0.69. Each card in the caddy has one skein of floss. Each caddy has ~100 cards/skeins. Not including the caddies and cards, you're talking ~$70 a caddy, so probably ~$80 grand total per caddy. Times THREE. And they're already all organized by DMC #. HOLY SHIT.
Not pictured are two $25 gift cards for a hair & nail salon. I think I spy two hair cuts in my future. Or perhaps a cut and dye job? Also got $20 for Walmart from my brother and $15 for Walmart from my aunt and uncle. Will probably use those to get whatever dvd/video game I don't get from my dad & step-mom, my other aunt & uncle, and whomever gets me for the gift exchange we're having Christmas day. And my brother's girlfriend has a gift for my that she's wrapped in Disney Princess wrapping paper.
So yes. Best Christmas Ever and only half done.
Oh, my sister apparently does not understand the concept of CHRISTMAS COOKIES and made the following:
Vampire face cookie because she thinks we're having Christmas with the Cullens or something. She hasn't read the books but... loves the movies? D:
And a lightbulb. (It was supposed to be a snowman.)
ETA: My mom is a baking maniac! She's made 11 kinds of cookies, 2-3 dozen each of 10 of them, and 6 dozen on the other one. O.O;
ETA 2: She forgot one of the kinds of bars she made... so that's 12 kinds of cookies and bars. @_@
