Christmas is Coming...
Getting better at actually using lj again. Still working on commenting around more often, but I've been reading everyone on my flist's posts all week, which is a big improvement over what I had been.
Today was better than yesterday, but still not great. Had some ups and downs. Got out and did some shopping. Bought a box of cereal and some candy canes. Nothing major, but it got me out of the house for a couple hours (I did a lot of window shopping).
Finished catching up on Big Love. The season finale for season three was... unexpected to say the least. Eager for season four.
Will be spending the next two days at my mom's house for the holidays. My step-dad will be taking off to go snowmobiling, so I won't have to deal with him for too long. It should be fun though. I'll be helping my mom with baking Christmas cookies. And not gonna lie, I'm looking forward to opening my presents. My mom teased me a month ago about how one of my presents is something that retails at over $500 brand new, but she got it for less used and that it's something that goes with what I asked for and something I would really like. Considering my Christmas list consisted of a rice cooker, printer ink, a couple video games, star trek & HP 6, some anime series dvds, a book, knee high socks and cross-stitch supplies? I'm at a loss to what it could be. We've got more than enough TVs (4 for only 2 people), so I know it can't be that. So yeah, I'm looking forward to solving that mystery. XD
I'm looking forward to January. My dad and step-mom bought my brother and I plane tickets to come visit them in Kansas City. I think we might be going to see White Christmas since it will be there for the first couple days we're there. It'll be cool to see it live. It's a family favorite and was one of the reasons I'd initially suggested us visiting then as opposed to closer to Christmas/New Years. I can't wait to see them again. It's so weird living so far away from them, having so many state lines between us.
My brother is trying to convert me to be a fundamentalist Baptist like he is. Today was the second time this month he's tried to convince me to go to some church related activity - this time Christmas Eve service. I have no interest in stepping foot inside a church where homosexuality is outright condemned, at a church where the preacher deems it appropriate to give a fire and brimstone lecture at a funeral. Which he did, a year and a week ago at my grandmother's funeral. A funeral is to look back on the life of a loved one, not to tell all their kin that they'll go to hell and never see her again if they're not saved.
Been working intermittently on Rise to Fame chapter six. I keep writing scenes for chapters other than the one I should be working on. Why I thought it would be a good idea to write my own song lyrics to use within the fic, I'm still unsure of. Coming up with lyrics is hard. Which is to say I've sat down to write them about a thousand times and still don't even have a single line written, let alone a verse. However, I've come up with 33 band names and 45 song titles - about half of which are just various weapon names from 358/2 Days. I know. So original. I probably have a ton of stuff written in my notebook that will never actually make it into the fic, but it's there for if it becomes relevant enough to include.
Now to work on a Yuletide pinch hit then my mallowmateys Christmas exchange fic - which I'm still doing despite having dropped the game. Not gonna leave the recipient without a gift. Still unsure when I'll return to RPing.
