Questions from sugarhugs

1) How did you discover you were into guro?

I've enjoyed horror movies since I was a little kid. I used to stay over at my grandparents house all the time when I was a little kid before my brother was born and my grandpa and I would watch movies together. Usually westerns and sci-fi, but sometimes horror. I remember one in particular that involved poorcelain dolls come to life that killed this chick in the bathroom. There was blood everywhere and I thought it was pretty cool. Scary movies have never really scared me - except for the first Saw movie.

When I was in the Harry Potter fandom I loved writing squick fic and exploring all sorts of bizarre shit in my writing. When I got into reading manga in '06/07 I found some gore/horror manga series that were really cool - like Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. Love that series so much. I think it was sometime last year (or maybe in '08), puffs introduced me to gurochan via /f/. And that's when I discovered that I had been into guro in various forms for the majority of my life.

2) Do you consider yourself "strange" or an "outcast"?

I do think I'm a bit strange, though not particularly due to my interest in guro. Never considered myself an "outcast" but I guess I've always been a bit of a "misfit". All through school I got on with a lot of different people, though the people I got along with best were generally "misfits" too.

3) Do you think judging a person based on their appearance can be justified in some situations?

I guess it depends on what you mean by judging. Do I shun people solely because of their appearance? Generally not - unless they look like they're gonna rape me, steal my kidney and leave me to die in a motel bathroom. And generally speaking most people who would do that likely don't physically look like they'd do it. I do tend to avoid certain types at conventions based on their appearances, but generally those are rightly justified.

4) What's your favorite hobby?

I'm hard-pressed to choose an absolute favorite. I'd say it's a tie between messing about in photoshop, cross stitching, music appreciation and photography. I also love doing crafty things, reading, writing, role playing, cooking, baking, playing video games and devouring media that leads me into new fandoms and interests.

5) How would you spend an ideal Saturday night?

I don't know. I don't really consider Saturday nights any different from any other day of the week - except for the fact that my brother and I share a house together and Saturday nights are D&D night, which means his friends are over. I work from home at whatever times I want to, so I don't really have things like people who keep normal schedules do. I also have a circadian rhythm that tends to circle around the clock so I just don't bother with fussing over what day is considered what. And day vs night has little to do with anything as some days night is equivalent to a normal person's morning and their morning is my night.

So I guess I'll answer it this way: My ideal night is being able to kick back and do whatever I want to. Whether that's hanging out with friends, going to a concert or curling up in a comfy chair and doing whatever activities I feel like doing.

Anyhow, now that I'm done with that, I ought to get to coding the layout I'm making for goldie.

ETA: Using my lj to code up the layout for goldie, so please excuse the dust.
