Then talent show was amazing. Hogwarts has some talented students and everyone had fun. Until Sofie and Sylvie win. Some of their spirits dampened after that

The band had put on their best performance yet, especially with the help of Bolly's pyrotechnics. Blue was a little disapppointed they lost but ultimately he was happy for Sofie. How could he not be? So he was in a pretty good mood as he made the rounds at the reception. He was going to celebrate and enjoy this regardless of who won. It was the best way to relaunch the band.

"Mr Grey." Elena smiled as his circuit of the room brought them into proximity. "Very professional work, well done."

"Thank you, Professor ," Blue replied. "We did our best."

"For what it's worth, it was a very close contest." Elena would personally have picked a more diverse group of judges than the heads of house, but you worked with what you had, she supposed. "There was a great deal of discussion and debate amongst the judges."

"Thanks.' Blue said. He shrugged," Winning would have been nice but there are more important things, I think. The band got reenergize by playing again. We had fun. And you learn something everytime you perform. I think all of that is worth a lot." He looks over at Sofie,"plus anything that makes her smile like that can't be a bad thing."

"Indeed." She waved him away. "Go and congratulate your lady on her win, Mr. Grey. And well done once again."

He nods"Thank you. Have a good evening."

Bastien hugs him. "You were amazing," he told him. "I mean, the band was. You should have won."

Blue hugs his dad but lightly scolds him, "Don't aay that."

"Sorry," he says. "Sofie was decent."

"More than decent. Be nice."

"I'm always nice," Bastien said. But he feels bad.

"So Keke wants the band to record," Blue told him.

Lottie was trying so hard to be happy, or at least neutral, and was finding it easier to just keep talking to people so she didn't have a chance to be upset. "Your song was really cute," maybe teasing would help.

He might be blushing, "Uh, thanks," he replied. "Your song was great too. The whole performance was."

"Thanks," she shrugged, she knew it was true but it wasn't going to feel true for a while, "You've been working on more stuff too, right? Is it all Sofie-themed too?"
