Labeling ourselves is not meant to be mandatory, but it comes with the teritory of a tertiary education. As soon as you declare a major or choose your school, your making a statement about yourself, even if it is subconscious. I am a communication major at VT, a combination of words that would make some from Charlottesville snicker, thinking I was taking the easy way out. My definitive reply is an emphatic "no", as Comm majors actually have to minor or develop a cognate. It's work that I have to do, not necessarily want to do. Nothing can convince me of having a lack of intellignece. I have not lost that inforamtion, but have augmented it with constant interest in academia and miscellany. School is not my biggest fear in the coming month.
Socially, I have never been a model of status or behavior. Dialogue filled with non sequiturs, the set-up to the joke, and diction disguising what I actually felt in a certain situation. Networking is the best way to describe my friendships. Friendship is a term I use koosely, aided by sites such as Facebook an MySpace. They sem to agree with me, and I think Mark Zuckerberg and Tom just called them "friends". Better self-esteem, I suppose. Maybe I'll conquer my social nerves(?).
