"We are doing this because it is New Year's Eve," Angela told her firmly. "I love this night, and we should be able to..." Have fun? She wasn't sure about that. "We're going out, and drinking a lot of whatever's alcohol-spiked, and that's that."
"And I promise, this is what I want to do," Angela assured her, cradling her arm against her chest as she sat beside her friend. "I'm not proving anything, I'm just... I can't just hide forever, and I don't want to."
"You mean you weren't going in that?" she teased, cracking a tiny smile. "It would be comfortable." And quite possibly warmer than a dress, even one with a coat over it.
"Well, I do look totally hot in it," Peyton drawled with a grin. "But I wouldn't want to show up all the other girls. You know, have every guy in the place flocking to me and ignoring everyone else. So unfair of me."
"I don't see what's wrong with that," she decided, getting up again and searching out some leggings to go under her dress. "You deserve a little flocking."
Oh right," Peyton laughed. "Like that's gonna happen." She stood and stretched, then headed over towards the dress. "I think I'm giving up on all that stuff anyway. I think I'm still hung up on, you know, people, and until I get over that I'll just mess things up anyway."
"It's just supposed to make you feel good for the night." Not that Angela was planning to 'get over'... people like that. But there was one piece of advice for other people, and one for her. "It's not forever."
"Well, they're welcome to flock," Peyton said with a grin, "But unless you're out shoving guys my way, I don't think it's likely. You now, guys flock to you."
She zipped up Angela's dress carefully, then perched on the edge of the bed, still only in a robe. "You don't have to prove anything to anyone."

"I'm not exactly planning on venturing far once we're there. I'll catch it."
