Apologies to those seeing this repeatedly...

I got eight new Rogues sketches at the Paradise Toronto Comicon this weekend (wanted to get those who were neglected last time).

Here's my gallery...my Rogues' Gallery, if you will ( Read more... )

Aww.. those are fantastic! I almost went to Paradise but my best friend decided we are going to Fanexpo instead. Those pics are fantastic. I love the glider one... and the weather wizard... and OMG the Piper one is absolutely freakin' cool!

Glad you like them! I'm quite pleased with all of them too.

I plan to be hitting the Fan Expo too, although for me it's kind of a working holiday (I cover it for a website). Hopefully I'll still have time to get some more sketches...it's an addiction, really.

How do you go about getting them?

Basically, you just approach an artist at their table and ask. Most charge for them (it's a way to recoup their con costs), but a few artists will have signs saying they do free sketches. It's a good idea to have reference picture(s) for them to look at, in case they don't know the character or don't really remember them. I used to loan them beat up old comics for reference, but now I use colour print-outs of certain panels that look good.

Personally, I've never paid more than $20 for a sketch, although my husband got a $40 one yesterday. The big name artists usually charge a lot more, which is why I've never gotten a really famous artist.

Thank you ^_^
*See totally wouldn't have thought of reference pics... even though I use them when I want to do something nice >_< *

I had guessed the cost thing. I'm so excited to be going to a convention! (went to anime north twice but I don't know how accurate the experience was because I was hauled around as a prop for an acquaintances cosplay menagerie.. and had a stupid YTV person take part of my costume!)

It's all a learning experience...I don't think I had reference pics in the beginning, but I learned from my mistakes as time went by ^_^

Hope you have fun! Fan Expo can be a bit overwhelming at first because it's so huge, but there's tons to do and see.

Why on earth did they take your costume? O_o

I hope she didn't do it deliberately...

She did, and then she went on air when I tried to complain and get it back to put my pigtail back up. She was called 'sugar'

Hey, I know who that is. Isn't that the TV host with the squeaky voice?

yes! My stupid friends were all- Oh well she is hawt! >_<' and I was more along the lines of "that was the only part of the costume I made myself and I was proud of those rabbits." It was frustrating. Of course the next time I was there I was made to wear so many different character's outfits it was insane.

Well...hopefully next time you'll get to make your own decisions and have more fun... :\

That is what this is about- fan expo, no cosplaying, just trying to see as much as possible *and get buzz aldrin's signature*

Wow yeah, I couldn't believe they got Aldrin. Some Sci Fi guests do charge for autographs, but hopefully he doesn't.

There are a lot of cosplayers at the Expo, though, and some pretty nifty costumes.

Here are some of the photos my husband took the last couple of years:
