Some Flash and Rogueish stuff

First of all, we get the cover to Flash #1 (possibly notable because it has a chalk outline of a body, and the first storyline is called "The Dastardly Deaths of the Rogues"). And there's a bit about the upcoming "Brightest Day" event -- you can see more about it in other entries on the DC blog ( Read more... )

Awe. Some.

Firstly, I'm using Gambi as a litmus test. Writer saying "Oh yeah, we'll use the Rogues," well that doesn't necessarily mean much. Writer saying, "And we're gonna be seing their taylor alot too!" That gives me more faith in it being Rogues done right. Because really, I feel like when explaining to non-readers what sets the Rogues apart from other baddies can be summed up by saying, "They have their own taylor. Regular guy, terrible fashion sense, makes their costumes." (Plus, something about Gambi, whenever I read him, makes me get that Rogues-are-family vibe.)

I'm tossing my opinion on the side of Johns' evasiveness regarding Owen and Bart could hopefully mean it's actually a plot-point. Maybe it's not in the near-near future, so he doesn't want to start people looking for it yet.

Also, this is the first I heard of "Brightest Day" but for once, I'm not gonna whine about one crossover following straight on the heels of another. My guess is it's almost like the second act or something. Because at the end of the day, I think Blackest Night is kind of a story about hope (or at least one that's supposed to have an upbeat ending), and that if it's a happy story, then Brightest Day has to follow Blackest Night. (Maybe BD will be when all the dead-but-awesome folk get to come back. Like James.)

Heh. Also, I love that moment with Heatwave oh so much.

So excited, apparently, that I can't spell the word "tailor." I blame work.

Johns has such a crush on Cold -- and to a lesser extent, some of the other Rogues -- that I think them appearing is a sure thing anyway. I always expect him to have them appear, it's just a question of which ones and how often. And is he going to kill the ones he doesn't like? :>

With the hints at a Reverse Flash Corps, and Prof Zoom's talk of Bart betraying his lineage, I wouldn't be surprised either to see the Thawne ancestry of Bart and Owen come into play. Johns has already talked about a new female speedster named Mara Thawne (groan...), although I guess it's possible he was just joking.
