yay for girl power! we haven't elected one yet either unfortunately, gillard was deputy pm and has been moved to replace kevin rudd (pm) who's recent fails in the field of everything lost him the support of his own party. since gillard's been instated though, the labour party's approval rating has leapt up again. fingers crossed she manages to keep her position for the next election, and tbh i think she will. the oppostition leader is a sexist prick who's wanting to reinstate workplace agreements which is what lost the last prime minister, john howard, the election. workplace agreements remove the minimum wage and basically make it incredibly difficult for small businesses to survive whilst making it really easy for massive american chains like mcdonalds to take over the marketplace. tony abbott's (the current opposition) love of workchoices and honestly his tendency to be a massive douche in public places plus his tendency to objectify women and tell them not to lose their virginity (because it's totally his business) will hopefully lose him this election by a fucking landslide. i hate this douche.

oh! and on the other hand, gillard has repeatedly announced her disapproval of workchoices, her desire to reform our education and health system, her belief in climate change and her plans to address it, her desire to promote women and gay rights and her plans to address and eradicate homophobia, particularly in young australians through primary and high school.

she's not perfect, but damn she has the potential to be awesome.
