This is basically going to cover the last few episodes for each of these shows, since I've failed in the consistent updates. Anyway, I just want to bitch and moan and squee about a few things.
WHEN DID THIS ACTUALLY GET KIND OF GOOD? I mean, it was always a guilty pleasure for me, but I genuinely feel like the plotlines, the acting and the writing has gotten a little better. WELL PLAYED, PEOPLE INVOLVED, WELL PLAYED. I'm actually really glad. These sorts of teen dramas generally get worse after a season or two *cough*Gossip Girl*cough*, but the people behind 90210 seem to be making a genuine effort to develop characters and relationships in a way that could almost be called realistic. Almost. I don't know when this happened, but I'm giving serious props to both the writers and the actors, who have all seemingly improved. I mean, the dialogue in some areas is still kind of crap, and in some places the acting is a little off, but on the whole everyone seems to be trying to make the show the best it can be. I don't feel like they're being lazy anymore, which I felt the first season was and, tbh, I'm starting to think Gossip Girl's getting.
Anyway, storylines!
The Naomi/Liam/Jen thing continues to be like sex without an orgasm. You just keep waiting and waiting, and it feels like they're getting off, but you sure as hell aren't. It's keeping me watching though, and I am expecting insane validation when they finally kick that ho Jen off the show. They're pushing it a little I think, in terms of the length of it all, since we know that we're not going to get that until episode 11. I just want Liam and Naomi to get together tbh, they were such a hardcore couple and their sex last season was damn hot. I like that Liam keeps trying though, and every time Naomi's heartbroken from other things, like not getting into the college she wants to go to, and he cares about her too much to make it worse by telling her her sister's a backstabbing, gold-digging whore. Who he slept with. On Naomi's bed. I'm kind of surprised Naomi's as gullible as they've suddenly made her though. It kind of makes sense, because she does have that blind-love for her sister going on, but still. I also wish the writer's would put in some genuine affection for Naomi on Jen's part though. I feel like that would not only make her character more tolerable, but it would make Naomi's blindness more believable. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the doubtlessly hot Liam/Naomi make-up sex that we better be getting this season. Because, seriously. I need it like burning.
Teddy/Adrianna/Navid was. Weird? Idk, I think Teddy's characterisation has been a little inconsistent, and when he got Adrianna to break up with Navid purely so he could make out with her in public, it was, um. Idk? But Navid/Adrianna! It broke my heart. Adrianna is so fickle. And a little lost at the moment. I really enjoy them as a couple, so I hope it does work out in the end. I'm also glad Adrianna has seemingly lost all interest in Teddy, since that was a sinking ship from the start. She also looked gorgeous dressed up as Marilyn Monroe. She's not curvy enough to really pull the look off, but she's got such a beautiful face.
Silver! Silver's story is kind of making me really sad. I actually think this bit is realistic. When my friend's mum was diagnosed with cancer, she had a similar issue with trying to take care of everything, and Silver's desperation in trying to stay on top of school and caring for her mum really breaks my heart. Despite that, I do understand where Kelly was coming from, because the mum was a massive cow for a very long time. I think the thing with Teddy though was kind of lovely. And I'm not even that big on his character, but when he took her up onto the roof and they hit the tennis balls off, it was awesome.
Dixon/Sasha? Uh, okay. That's all I got.
Jasper and Annie. Has anyone read spoilers on this? Because I don't know where they're going with it? Does Jasper know Annie's the one who hit his uncle? Is he really the manipulative douche he seems to be? Idk! Her acting has gotten worlds better this season though. I don't know how that happened, but well done, Annie!
And I honestly don't care about the parents plotline, so, no comment.
Ivy's hot though.
My main issue with this show at the moment is that it picks up and disposes of storylines like they're fucking tissues, and it's really starting to annoy me. I really love this show, but it's not devoting the time or the energy to maintain storylines in a way that makes sense or attention to the members of Glee that aren't Rachel, Finn and Quinn. And Puck and Kurt to a lesser extent. I want to see Tina! And Artie (who's a bitchin' singer, omg)! And what about Britt and Santana? Why'd they join? Or more importantly, why'd they stay? I love the Finn/Rachel and Will/Emma plotlines, but I'm very quickly getting bored of them since they're the major feature of every episode.
I feel like they're playing out of order as well. Why is Quinn Sue's lackey again? When she gave that speech about not wanting to put people down in a previous episode? Why is Puck suddenly all about Glee? What's going on? Why do they devote ten minutes of an episode to storylines that should travel across a few episodes? Like Puck/Rachel (which was actually really hot) and Mercedes and Kurt? I just wish they'd put more time into developing the storylines and putting them in an order that actually made sense. Maybe I'm looking too much into it. I feel like this show had the potential to be epic and amazing, and instead is just a lot of fun. =/
On the other hand, things that I love: The music! Omg, they got some damn talented people involved. I mean, Puck singing Sweet Caroline, and Mercedes singing Hate On Me? Hearts in my eyes. I'm really excited for the 'Wheels' episode, since it's about Artie, and after listening to Artie sing on 'Somebody to Love' for the eight millionth time, he's kind of becoming my fave. Also, where is the Britt/Santana fic? AND THE REST OF THE EVERYONE/EVERYONE FIC?
And would people disown me if I wrote Will/Terri fic? Lmao, I kind of love them, even though they're so, so wrong for each other. That bit in the last episode, during the ultrasound, when she was all, "Whatever happens, just remember that in this moment, we love each other." IT BROKE MY HEART.
I just. I honestly don't know what to say about this show at the moment. I feel like it's raping the characters a bit, and whilst I feel like 90210 is becoming less lazy, GG is actually getting lazy to a fault. They've lost the consistency in the characters, and the storylines are used and ridiculous.
I'm still watching it, and it still has it's moments, but on the whole, I'm just not enjoying it like I used to. I feel like they're killing Blair's character, and the lack of genuine friendships in it kind of sucks. It all feels so superficial, and no one just hangs out anymore. Plus, between Hilary Duff and Tyra Banks the acting is cringeworthy, and I just. I'm disappointed. Hopefully it'll pick up again.
The cast looks really hot at the moment though.
SHOW OF MY HEAAARRRRTT. This season has been so, so good so far. The time they're devoting to House actually getting better is awesome. I love that he hasn't come straight back into the thick of it, but they're not making it too slow either. The pacing in this show's always been good, but this season, it's great.
I love that the old ducklings are back and that Chase has an actual storyline, since he hasn't had one in like, three seasons. And it's one with character development! My favourite kind! :D His reaction feels genuine, and his acting of it all is very good. I continue to enjoy Foreman, even though half the audience apparently hates him, and all of a sudden, I like Cameron, which, wth?
Wilson whispering to Amber? omg. I actually teared up when he was doing it, especially at the end, when he told her, "he really is getting better". My face was like ;________________; The House/Cuddy pacing has been really good too. I love that she's caring and worried, but still as detached as she can be. She doesn't want to hurt him, and she doesn't want him to hurt her, and it works for them. Their interactions in the last episode were gold though. Particularly at the end, when he said "You do make me feel funny". I was like :D:D:D It was a.
