I'm cheating, because this is actually a livejournal comm, but I really love hairspiration. People post pictures of hair! But it's not just hair, it's hair in fashion and editorials and art and photography, and it is so, so beautiful.

I was meant to post this yesterday, but I clearly fail @ life. It was my birthday though! And I spent the day at work and then hungover and then I finally went and saw 'Up!' It only came out on Thursday here, and just, omg, my heart. I was seriously sobbing in the opening with Carl and Ellie. Disney Pixar owns my life rn, and I need an icon of this so bad.

But anyway, I got some super awesome stuff for my birthday, like the first season of True Blood and the fifth of Entourage (with a bonus Queens Boulevard t-shirt!) and the new Paul Dempsey album which I'm excited to listen to. :) But one thing that I was most excited by was the new Mary Moody book. Mary Moody is a woman who used to work at Channel 9, became a homemaker when she started having kids, and, when she hit fifty and her last child moved out of home, ran away. She left her family and her life, and moved for a year to France to cook and explore and find herself. Through this, she's stayed with her husband, but instead of just having their life together, she has her own too, and she travels frequently, and has written gardening books (and hosts her own gardening show!), and travel books and cooking books. She's incredible, and my dad bought me her new one, which is half memoirs and half recipes that she's grown up with. I'm really excited to read it! (It's called 'The Long Table', btw)

of all the gin joints in all the world, meme, a part of your whole new world, sometimes i live in the real world, books
