Resident Evil: Extinction

Ahhh, one last Trilogy rounded out before the end of Summer. Thankfully this one wasn't nearly as over hyped as all the others. So I was able to go in with reasonably low expectations. If you've seen the first two films you'll pretty much know what to expect from this one. Lots of suspenseful moments followed by a 50/50 chance of just some stupid loud noise or something thats actually sort of scary.
Compared to the first two movies, this one had a different sort of setting which I really enjoyed. The first one took place completely underground in an Umbrella Corp. facility (the Hive). The Second was almost right after the first in the city above as the T-virus spread and the city was locked down. Extinction however takes place after the virus has infected the entire world, giving it a whole post apocalyptic, Mad Max feel.
Once again Alice (Milla) kicks all sorts of undead ass, handing out red ass beat downs like special brownies at a bake sale, while everyone around her drops like flies. It was cool that they brought back a few of the key characters from the second movie. And while I wish Jill Valentine would have stuck around I guess it would have been kind of pushing it to keep her AND add in Claire Redfield. Another fantastic nod back the first movie is the laser grid room. Something I'm sure anyone with something to hide, would love to have for their security. Although I bet the clean up is a bitch.
Over all I think RE3 does a good job of sticking with what works for the series. Classic zombie survival horror, Badass action scenes and a few crazy ass mutant monsters for a little extra spice. I give Extinction 4 Juicey shotgun blows to the head out of 5 :-D
