Pre-Birthday weekend: Saturday

Feb 19, 2007 10:10

Wow, I had quite the time this weekend. Traci and I checked into our room at the Hotel Max at about 5pm on Saturday. Very interesting place. they definitely have a modern/trendy look going on. The place was renovated from an older hotel so everything was really small. The elevators fit maybe 4 people max. and thats only if you don't mind being friendly. The room probably wasn't much more than 200 sq.ft. and the shower is the second smallest I'd ever seen in my life. All of this didn't make for a bad experience by any means, it was just different than any other place I have ever stayed. Also interesting were some of the "items' available in the room. such as a tin with condoms and lube and a small vibrator. I'd hate to know how much they'd charge for that stuff if you were to open them. just the bottle of water in the room was $5. The whole place seemed geared to be a "hookup hotel" but I don't know who's paying $200 a night just to hook-up.
Not long after we checked in Ben came over and we all played an intense game of Munchkin, which is a card game for all you sickos out there ;-P. Ben was playing at his damn trickiest because somehow he stole the win away from Traci with a Wizard card and I obliviously and willingly assisted him in winning. That boy should be a magician.
Next the three of us went to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory. There, as our water girl filled our glasses with refreshing H2O we realized she was none other than Petra! A friend of ours that we hadn't seen for 3-4 years. Apparently she's now living in Seattle and attending the Art Institute for Animation with 3 quarters left to go. Hope she has better luck in that field then I did.
After dinner it was off to the show for me and Traci. The opening bands for the Presidents were actually pretty fun. The band known as Awesome had a trumpet, Banjo, and Accordion among the other normal instruments. For one of the songs the drummer used a typewriter to keep the beat. Their songs were also VERY unique. Supernova opened their set by donning Metallic space suits. It was really fun to watch. It was also pretty cool to learn that when the Presidents had first started out, they had opened for Supernova.
The Presidents as always Rocked the house hard. Everyone was bouncing and having a great time. At one point lead singer Chris Ballew and Guitarist Andrew, merged to form a crazy 4 armed rock beast that went on to wow us for the next few minutes with its multiple guitar skills until dividing to once again be the two initial rockers. I was a great show but we decided to leave before the encore was finished to avoid the flood of people leaving the show.
In all it was a pretty great weekend for making a few more memories with Traci before we go our separate ways.
