[Looks like someone else woke up somewhere they weren't expecting to. Lucca's absently picking at her jumpsuit- foreign fabrics, not so hot-, but she's focusing more on the room.] You know, for a practical joke, this kind of sucks. I thought he would've had better things to do, anyway. [Though honestly, she hadn't exactly been helping much ( Read more... )

[definitely still has a few of her feet] Ahh, Miss? Hello? That device you've got there is a communications device. We just call them Spheres.

[Wasn't expecting that, and jerks, letting go of the Sphere. It spins a bit, but, the view eventually settles- on her face this time.] Ah! [Mildly distracted by the way it's floating, and the display- wait he's talking. Pay attention!] Is that so? Then it wouldn't do any good to take it apart. [Mildly disappointed.]

What other devices are there?

Ah hello there! [grins brightly seeing the hologram settle on her face! he's awful happy for someone who's burnt his hand and lost feeling in two of his fingers thanks to it.]

No, I wouldn't take it apart, just in case. Other devices, well! There's the transportation pads outside your room, one at either end of the hall. They're basically lifts and you scan your barcode there on your hand--don't know if you've noticed that or not yet--tell it where you want to go and you're off!

There's actually a lot to be found here, but unfortunately...[his happy tone drops, turning more serious]...you've arrived at a very dire time, so any exploration you want to do to acquaint yourself of things on this ship, you'd better do it now while the ship is still fully operational. You can access a map of the ship through the Sphere. Should be a little button. But I suggest stocking up on food and water as soon as possible.

[She can't tell that bit, so he just seems a cheerful sort to her.] Transportation pads? Great! [A little starry-eyed at that, though she'll be peeved if this is the future and she didn't have some hand in it. A check of her hands and okay, she sees it. Not sure whether that's so great, but presumably it's handy.]

What's the problem? [Finds the map easily enough, and gets up to look for bags.]

Well... [there's really no way to sugar coat it, so...] Unfortunately, we're headed towards a black hole.

But! And this is an important but! This isn't the first time we've gone into one. Heading into it has sent us back three months in a recursive time loop and this is our third--or as far as we're aware, anyway--turn in the loop.

[Takes a moment off rummaging in the drawers to filter this.] So it could be not final. But… [A frown.] How many loops do you think there are? We've got to break it before the last one.

[And she's found her helmet, bag, holster for the Wondershot and her own clothes. That's something. Don't mind the screen going dark, just changing.]

Unfortunately, this sort of time anomaly could go on and on without end if nothing or nobody interferes or tries to find a solution to the problem. As far as I know, and I was one of the very first on-board, we're nearing the end of our third loop, but how many there were beforehand? That number could be infinite.

But now that we are here, we can stop it. It's just taking time to find the source.

[And she's changed, and nodding.] Any clues?

There's several based around the mention of Level Three, but that location's closed off to us right now, well, Level One to Level Twelve I should say. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much else said regarding Level Three--only that we know it's important to Orion in some way.

Oh, I should tell you that the one time it did open up months ago, that level contained the crew quarters. And it wasn't a pretty sight...

That's not very helpful, then. [Frown.] Can we force them open?

Orion? One of the crew?

We'll have to be on guard when we can get there then.

Hah, you're telling me? I've been trying to solve this for the almost nine months and I'm usually good about solving this sort of thing far quicker.

As for Orion... He claims to be part of the crew that evacuated the ship before this whole time loop began, but he's the only actual crew member we've had contact with. The only other crew here are robots, like the robotic doctor on level 13.

However, even if he is the only one lurking around the ship, it doesn't mean we don't have to be careful, you're right. He gave Ganymede quite the beating. I don't want any one of us to turn up like that.

That's… some riddle, then. There must be something.

They left the robots… but…

So there's no one else here from the original crew? Then… well, how'd we all get on, to start? And- well. I'm Lucca. Pleased to meet you.

Absolutely.

Oh there is. It's just a matter of finding it.

As for the original crew, Orion seems to be the only one. And how, hah, well, I've even resorted to searching through people's memories to find out who or what caused it, but that event was wiped clean from everyone's minds--as it is, no doubt, in yours.

But yes, sorry, I'm the Doctor and I wish we were meeting under different circumstances, Lucca, but you never can pick and choose where and how you'll meet new people. [small smile]
