Huh, doesn't seem like it's been five months.

Random question! Humans and all you other beings with hearts, tend to celebrate the day you were born, right?

So when you say 'humans', you mean you're another... Person that looks like a human but isn't.

Bingo. I'm something called a Nobody, suppose you've never heard of that?

Can't say I have. This place is weird.

So I guess that's why you're asking about birthdays?

Ahh, you must be new here.

Pretty much! It's for someone who I think deserves one.

Since yesterday.

...Well it's not really a matter of deserving one, everybody has one. How are... Nobodies, did you say? How are you born?

When someone loses their hearts to darkness, the heart becomes a creature what we call a Heartless. When someone's heart becomes a Heartless, it still leaves behind a body and a soul, which is what a Nobody is. Nobodies like me are very rare though, most Nobodies don't even resemble a humanoid appearance and are just creatures like the Heartless. But when you get someone with a very strong heart, and they lose that heart, you get a Nobody like me. Make sense?

[Oh if you only knew how much that makes sense, Axel.]

...Yeah. But I guess it means you guys don't really know the date of when that happened, huh.

Nah, never really kept track of the dates. Just mostly kept track of how many days passed.

Counting back the days would probably take way too long. You could always just pick somebody's favorite numbers on a calendar and do it that way?

Yeah, I'll probably just go with some sort of method like that.

Or if that person has some other kind of significant date. I dunno.

That works just as well. Eh, I'll think of something.
