Besides, X-Men Kitty is hot

Um...I'm starting to feel a bit insecure about all these LJ updates. I don't really have anything fantastic to contribute, any artwork or fanfiction or poetry or witty axioms, but that's okay.

Met a guy at work yesterday. He was reading Watchmen, and the restaurant wasn't very busy, so I chatted with him a bit. I was all "OOOooh, Watchmen! Lovelovelovelovelove Alan Moore lovelovelove!" He asked what else I had read by him, and I rattled off a buncha titles, but (GASP) included some Frank Miller ones, which, to my happiness, he called me out on. Anyway, we talked comics, and I brought him his food, and gushed about how sad I was about Astonishing X-men, and talked more about what a magician Alan Moore was, and...it was nice. And he was cute. Early twenties, prolly.

So I asked him where he was from. He said Chicago, and that he was down here working with the Obama campaign for the next two weeks. Downside - he's leaving soon. Upside - if I see him again, I can talk to him more! I'm leaving too, after all.

Speaking of which...I'm so psyched about UNCA. Got my roomie assignment and all - Sarah (?) Trenton. Can't find her on facebook, and I haven't had the guts to email her, but I will soon. Honest. Didn't get into the dorm I wanted, but that's okay. If I really hate it, I'll just apply for a different one (which sounds easier than it is, I'm sure).

Okay, I'm gonna preface this next bit by saying: I am NOT FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS. There.

BEGINNING OF NOT-FISHING-FOR-COMPLIMENTS SECTION:

Lately, I've been feeling kinda big. Like, taller than everybody else. Bigger hands, bigger feet, bigger everything (except for the boob department, but I'm totally okay with that). I'm exaggerating, obviously (doesn't everyone exaggerate about their appearance?) but I've just been feeling bulky. There are times when I wish I were less hard to miss, you know?

...

Hmmm...a song!!

There are times when I wish
I were less hard to miss(h)
That I'd be graceful and small
Instead of five-foot-ten tall
Oooh, if I cut off my head
I'd be five-foot-two instead!
...but then I would die
And instead of standing, I'd lie
As dead as a knob,
And my family would sob,
"If that big gene hadn't come forth,
she'd be a happy dwarf."

Written in two minutes, cut me slack. And while five-foot-ten isn't huge, it still feels like a lot sometimes.

END OF THE NOT-FISHING-FOR-COMPLIMENTS SECTION.

So, because there are a million and one Kat/Katt/Cats at Asheville, my name's Kitty. Not necessarily after the X-Men character, although she is my favorite. More like, the Anna Karenina one (although her name is Ekaterina Alexandrovna Shcherbatskaya or something, but that's a bit of a mouthful). She gets Levin (the hot, broody one modeled after Tolstoy) and is very compassionate. I don't care if it sounds stupid, I like it. And I figure, if people can't take me seriously with a name like that, they aren't really worth hanging with. (Hell, I have a friend named Buffy for crying out loud, and people don't mess with her. Granted, she's kinda mean, but don't tell her I said that.)

frank miller, x-men, silly names, alan moore, kitty, tall, boobs, songs, unca, hot brooders
