The Last Word

I'm going to be on Television tonight everybody!

The political/current affairs discussion show named above, hosted by walking seal-of-quality Nicky Campbell, has invited me - yes, ME! - to be part of its audience. Okay, so Campbell himself is less than a serious political heavyweight, more the straight human equivalent of a scarcely-detectable kitten's fart; but the panel includes a fair mix of Scottish representatives, ranging from the good (Brian Cox of Hollywood film fame - Braveheart, Manhunter, er... Chain Reaction) the bad (a nameless polystyrene New Labour droid) and the ugly (right-wing former Sun editor).

The Topics will be as follows:

1) Fortress Britain - how will we strike the balance between civil rights and safety? (I think I know where our Sun editor will go with that one)

2) G8 or Live 8: Has awareness been raised sufficiently that the Make Poverty History campaign will benefit, or, as the case of Niger seems to indicate, is it all talk and no action?

3) Should Scotland have it's own National Anthem?

Hmm, guess which one of these is the '...and finally' humour-value topic?

I'll be doing my best to make myself heard on topic number one, but the Scottish National Anthem could be 'Donald, Where's Your Troosers' for all I give a toss.

"Those who exchange their precious liberty for a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty, nor safety." Thomas Jefferson.

11.05pm, BBC1 Scotland. Who's that weird-lookin' guy quoting a President?
