I AM 51% GEEK!

Nerd, Freak, Geek, Dweeb. Sound familiar? That's okay, cause I will be the richest person at my 15th year high school reunion. If a "con" isn't happening that weekend.
Take the GEEK test at Fuali.com

and just to prove it I am repasting a rather long reply to Cat, Shira and Charlies posts.

Phone insurance is VERY, VERY, VERY STUPID and here's why.

The only time it makes since to take out insurance is to protect yourself from catastrophic acts that would create very serious problems. And as much as I know that Cat would consider a lost phone or a broken one a catastrophe it does not make any financial sense to insure a phone. Remember that insurance companies use advanced financial instruments called derivatives to carefully calculate the average rate at which they will have to replace the phones and factor that into the base of the insurance plan price. THEN you add the wages of the highly paid bureaucrats that sell useless insurance to uninformed cell phone consumers. Who do you think pays for those gorgeous bank lobbies? You.

Additionally, phone insurance is likely to make you less careful about your phone. How much do you rely on your subconscious? Because I sure can't keep track of every little thing that's happening all around me, yet my subconscious brain reminds me of what I need to do and when.(At least when I want it to) And phone insurance, by reducing the cost of loss or damage to your phone it distorts your motivation. Because you tell your mind that it is all already paid for.(this is partially done by the deductible)

If you understand nothing in this post remember this, do not pay for insurance for things that would not be a catastrophically damaging loss.
Pay for car insurance(less about your own car then for the liability involving other people)
house insurance (I dont want to come up with hundreds of thousands of dollars),
life insurance (if you have someone else to support)
remember that you will pay a big premium on all insurance products over what your actual chances of having the thing occur. Think your at higher risk so its a better deal? Remember that this is factored in and it creates a hidden non-motive.
Now I know that Cat is living with very little extra margin, but that was very much her choice to not worry too much about work and money this summer. Thats not a good reason to buy insurance for a hundred dollar object.

And Shira, well ooookay maybe phone insurance isn't such as bad idea for you, as you have managed to lose your phone more times then Cat and I have had sex. Well, maybe not that much, but alot.
