So, I just bought a car for a quid.

No, really. [eBay listing removed, lucky I took a screenieIt says it's for £4000 on the photo, but no-where else in the listing, and the buy-it-now was for £1. People should really pay attention to what they put into a legally-binding auction service ( Read more... )

Brighton isn't in Dorset either, is it? Seems like he's made a few mistakes there... still - Subaru Impreza for a quid!

Nope. There is a Brighton in Cornwall, near(ish) the Dorset border, but still, you'd think he would know where he lives.

Missed that. Looks like I'll need to stick a real engine in it to get it home.

You'd be surprised how many top cars are for sale on eBay for under a quid. Most get a lot of interest in the last day or two, but I am currently watching another 30 or so cars, all road legal and worth several grand each, with a current bid price under a tenner.

Amazing how many people forget to set a reserve... I missed out on about £8,000 worth of BMW this morning for 99p, cos "The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing."
And I find out in two days if I get a Mercedes sports car worth between £8,000 and £12,000 for a penny.

(I love eBay)

And if he pursues for the four grand?

Seems to me like he was trying to skimp on the cost of selling a thing on Ebay.

Probably, and I suspect he will, but eBay is legally binding. Setting a low price and hoping to skip eBay's charges is against eBay's policies.

If he gets shirty I can pursue him for either a car or breach of contract :D
If he gets really shirty, I'll reccomend we both just forget about it...

I'm quietly hopefull.
