*grins*

I'm glad the pictures finally came through . . . wait; I thought you were going to bed. I just got back from my walk . . . I am so sweaty . . .

*shakes impotent fist at excessive humidity*

They do make some pretty amazing faces in this episode--though the meh-quality of the filming makes it kind of hard to get the kinds of pretty caps you can get form AnS or the concerts . . . and M no Arashi is even worse, so look out . . . whenever I get to this one . . .

I had totally missed Nino fellating the bean pod, for example

I'm . . . really glad I wasn't just imagining that . . . even if I had to prompt you to notice it ^^"

I was tempted to do some of the cooking shots, but the ones I got . . . didn't really convey the insanity--I think this really is one of those episodes where parts of it just don't translate through static caps . . . you have to actually see it happen to get the complete awesomeness . . .

The over-reactions to crab-slime are so over the top and amazing . . .Did we ever make you watch the total horribly spectacular dub to Bastard!!, where Dark Schneider (is that right? We saw it years ago is all: "That's right, Princess . . . It's . . . *dramatic pause* SLIME!!!!

That's totally what those 20 seconds or so of ridiculous made me think of.

And when you think of the truly disgusting things they've eaten in the past . . . the crab-slime . . . well, it's still nasty and abject, and obviously unexpected and therefore more worrying . . . but they're just so awesomely dorky here--especially when they actually seem shocked that the fluid coming from the crab . . . holy crap! . . . smells like crab. Who could have guessed a shocker like that??

God I love when they're big dorks together. And total wusses. Seriously--That squid terrified me much more . . . especially when Sho compared the texture to a rubber bouncy-ball. That is not an acceptable food texture, people. What more should one fear after that??

Poor Arashi. Abused by their producers and staff, and then . . . by each other. It's a good thing they're having so much fun, or someone would seriously be dead by now.

Yeah, when I got done brushing my teeth and stuff, it had loaded, so I had to read through it. Had to.

I was pretty suspicious of texture even before they ate -- bigger, older critters and veg are usually sinewy or woody, right? And boiling the beast for EIGHT HOURS (or however excessively long it took) isn't really going to make it tender. Hence rubber squid. I don't know what squid is supposed to be like, personally, but gah. Sho's chewing face is amazing, though, and totally worth the sympathetic horror of imagining the texture.

Also amazing is the shot you got of Aiba passing the bat to Sho, where, in this context, it looks like Sho is brandishing his weapon in a sort of berserker warrior pose. He should have one foot on a defeated enemy, with a busty babe (or Nino) clinging to his other knee.

I will have to move Bastard! to the top of the Netflix. But looking back at Sho and the bat meant also looking at the fried ostrich egg (again, rubber?) -- which reminds me of the awful (yet wonderful) movie Caveman, starring Ringo Starr, Lyle Alzedo, and Shelley Long (as well as the chick who played Daisy Duke, I think). It's hilariously bad, and almost all the dialogue is grunts, with the occasional 'caveman vocabulary' -- they have words for food, sex, and shit, as I recall. Anyway, at one point a pterodactyl's egg is dropped into some sort of steaming hot spring kind of crater, and it gets poached. Looks almost exactly like the fried ostrich egg, off-center yolk and all. In this movie, though, the cavegang end up sort of using it as a trampoline and sliding around in the yolk for a while before carving out some pieces to take back to camp.

Had the DnA staff seen this movie, I'm sure they would have found a way to have Arashi rolling around in egg yolk, too. Aiba would totally dive right in.

Maybe not in the tuxes, though -- they're rented. Which is why, I think, Jun spends such a long time cleaning out his mermaid clam shells before enacting his cosplay wishes. (Seriously, this was not a spontaneous impulse if he spent that much time wiping out the shells!)

No, seriously: he's brandishing at Aiba. And when Aiba went out of his way to celebrate Sho's achievements, too ;__;

Some people have no sense of gratitude ^_~

:O

Good Lord. That sounds like a good candidate for our bad movie nights . . .

I am happy that they got the important words in though . . .
^^"

. . .

wtf?

Do you ever wonder how the hell some of these movies got made? Like, who was sitting at that table? And what movie scripts/concepts got passed over in favor of that one?

Had the DnA staff seen this movie, I'm sure they would have found a way to have Arashi rolling around in egg yolk, too. Aiba would totally dive right in.

*is speechless at the mental picture*

I've actually had squid 2 or 3 times. The first time it was wonderful and just melted in my mouth . . . the other two times . . . rubbery ickiness . . . but nothing like a Superball.

I can't help but think about the bathrooms in Taylor when I think of bouncy superballs . . . ^_^

The poached-egg trampoline thing was sort of accidental in the context of the movie -- and since there was hardly any dialogue, the whole thing relied pretty heavily on physical comedy (one reason they have a word for shit is that the cavemen have a lot of comical encounters with dinosaur droppings -- though 'dropping' sounds way too dainty for this stuff). If the C/D/G staff had seen Caveman, the egg trampoline would be totally intentional -- that is, that would be the staff's intention, and perhaps Aiba's, but the rest would have to be suckered (or pushed) into it...

Speaking of giant food, I finished up YTM yesterday, in a marathon binge (well, six eps in a row). I decided I'd better be visible to the birdies in their cages, which meant moving furniture in the formal parlor so I could be in their line of sight, reach a plug, and not be sitting on the floor. And since the wireless I'd accessed the other day was mysteriously missing, I was down to pre-dl-ed stuff. (And I feel hugely unproductive since I didn't dl anything yesterday -- even though I should feel mega-productive for reading three articles.)

Anyway, I laughed, I cried, and I was totally grossed out by the Jumbo American Hamburger. Maybe because I'm a vegetarian, but the sight of the family sitting around the little table gnawing on chunks of meat, and only meat... *shudder* But I enjoyed the several random little D and G in-jokes in the last ep, and of course, Ohno's cameo -- he seemed so skeezy!

I'm sure he wasn't supposed to be, but I think my first encounter with someone in a happi handing out flyers was a manga character whose part-time job was luring people off the streets into a strip club -- or maybe just a hostess bar, but it rings sleazier in my memory.

nice!

and the inside jokes were pretty awesome. The hamburger . . . ew.

Damn it Minura, if you realized that just having meat at a BARBEQUE wasn't enough for a meal, why not here?? Because that scene hurt me. And I really love that show. And so does Reuben. And I'm making Jes watch it. And if I can get Tz for 10 minutes where she's not grading, I will suck her in, too. Because she has a special weakness for pretty!Sho, and damn, this series has it in spades.

Late response. I still suck. I am really sorry.

*puppyeyes*

I have to finish commenting on those papers. And I don't feel like typing up their paper comments. Not when over half of the class failed for not following format.

>_<

I will not take this personally. I warned them, and they thought because I have a friendly personality in class that they could call my bluff. It happens every semester. rrrr.

Mmm, yeah, both of them look pretty darn good in YTM... *reminisces, glazes over* Though Sho's 'distant observer' look sort of seemed annoying now and then But then he'd go back to being pretty and arranging flowers (and other things), and all would be well.

Okay, so is Yamada-papa a freak, or what? That guy is seriously strange-looking! But the professor dude kind of made up for it. In looks anyway -- I still didn't quite trust him by the end of the show...

If that hamburger had even had a giant bun to go with it, I'd have been so much happier. Plus, by the time they found the missing children and go the meat-slab home, it must have been cold and congealed. And you know the Yamadas' oven isn't big enough to reheat that thing. If they even have an oven -- aren't they just cooking on a hot plate? Japanese cooking seems very stove-top anyway.

And (switching dramas), why are there not more megane in Hana Kimi? I guess there aren't really any in the original manga, but they changed so much other stuff anyway. Sad! Himejima and Namba both looked really old, didn't they? Like, way older than all the other guys who were too old to play high school students. But Oguri Shun did a good Sano (needed a haircut in back and needed to be less of an ass), and Toma was pretty hilarious -- those pantomimes! -- as well as sweet. But his hair was way more wretched than Nakatsu's needed to be. (Or maybe I've been spoiled by his Maou hair, which is seriously hot. Hhhhhot.) Still, super cute and worth blowing through in less than a week.

So now I'm adrift for drama. Laboriously dl-ing Stand Up! and have the first ep of Kisarazu Cat's Eye tucked away. I guess I should get Kimi wa Petto too, if only for the crack factor of the basic premise.

Oh, you said see Legend. So that's on the list too. Okay, not adrift at all, just delayed by slow dl-ing.

slab of cold hamburger- >_<""

I could watch Sho in YTM forever The distant observer look almost always breaks with a totally dorkable smile, though . . . and Jesus wardrobe, those black t-shirts . . . *drools*

Amen to Toma's Maou hair ^_^

And I didn't mind Namba in HanaKimi, but Himejima?? wtf??? He wasn't supposed to be that much of a freak, and actually pretty.

*shudders*

StandUp! ended up affecting me more than I thought it would. Even if the last 5 minutes are wtf-ish.

I have no time to dl.

btw, can you use ass subtitles? If so, which program? VLC works for my srt subs, but I'm running into trouble with ass. and Maou 2 subs are available in ass already \o/

I actually just read the text. Still don't know where mama got the gun. But I'll watch again ands see if I could work it out . . .

You're taunting me, right? I haven't tried to use softsubs in any file format, as I suspect it would require some program that doesn't run on 10.3.9 anyway.

I am so ordering a new computer this week, dammit. The fact that this one won't shut down properly is really bothering me -- making me feel like it's just going to die or explode sometime soon. I hope I'm not using that as an excuse for a more fan-worthy machine...

Rargh. Well, last week there was about a 36-hour gap b/w when I saw softsubs and when I saw hardsubs, and I was spastically checking every couple of hours, on average (so obviously, there were periods of checking every ten minutes to balance the times I was asleep). So I'm hoping this will be a pattern, cuz it's swiftly getting too complicated for me to follow. Even if they do use a lot of words I know (like 'kill' -- but not 'nipple'), I don't know words for 'loan-shark' or even 'revenge'.

No, Namba was still charming, and looked amazingly like the manga drawing (in my memory thereof, anyway). But Himejima (and his whole dorm, really) were total freaks.

YES! to Sho in black! Have you seen his new AU CM? Not in black, but tres awesome.

Mmm, Toma.... I also love his olive green jacket. And the running. I really must stop noticing little similarities in appearance to Tomas (argh, even the name!), or I'm going to accidentally do something really bad. I suck.

Right. About the softsubs. I forgot.

*hangs head*

If you get that computer, I am marching off to get my harddrive. Let's enable each other ^_^"

I would also appreciate rapid subs--like everyone else ^^" Where are you getting your hardsubs? I've seen about 3 different groups doing it . . .

OMG. new AU CM &hearts

like 'kill' -- but not 'nipple'

*still laughing uncontrollably*

This is true ^_^

Toma = Tomas? Cheekbones? Dorky grin? Lankiness? Let's not enable that, please. He's a whore.

I got the Sakurai Storm hardsubs for Maou 1 and 2 b/c they were the first I saw -- posted on ohno_daily, onlyarashifiles, and some other places the Thursday after, both weeks. Though it seems like Stormy Team has also done a hardsub of 1, as I saw on, I think, the jdrama community page? I may dl it as well to compare, but right now I'm in binge mode and want subs fast, fast, fast.

I dl-ed ep 2's hardsubs yesterday pm, leaving them loading while I went up to Indy to see The Dark Knight at the IMAX theater. It was totally worth it, but b/c it was a midnight screening over an hour away, I didn't get to bed till 4 am -- and then had to get up at 6:45. I'm so dead, but I told the kids I'd be available during our (cancelled) class time, since they have a paper due Monday. I highly recommend seeing DK in the theater -- not seeing it on the big screen will cheat you a little, I think. It was grim and amazing. I want to see it again. But first, Maou 2, which will be waiting for me when I get home. Should I take a nap first, though?

Randomly ran into one of our anime students in the lobby and played cards with him and pals while we waited 2+ hours to sit -- though actually, no tickets had been sold for the Kung Fu Panda (on IMAX? why?) screening just before DK, so we got to go in early. But it was cool to see him again and talk a bit. From him I learned that Tomas apparently has had a long-standing habit of collecting a harem of freshman girls and working his way through them in the course of an academic year -- then starting over with a new group in the fall after the pervious group has wised up. The hell? Definitely should stop thinking he's cute, since I'm not eighteen and therefore wouldn't qualify.

No one has shown up. I could have been asleep or watching Maou already, dammit. And I just missed the bus and have to wait another 20 minutes. Hence, still screwing around on LJ.

rrr when they don't show up. I had another 2 hours today, since we started Foucault, but only one showed up. Midterm + Foucault+ returned paper 1 just beat them down too much, I think. Ad in the fact that it's Friday and 8000 degrees out, and . . .

Wow. harem, huh? The idea that he always goes for the freshmen is a little hinky. >_<

Beuben and I totally want to go see DK, maybe at the IMAX here.

Thanks for the sub info; I've just been picking them up variously at different sites, but wondered if yours were faster.

Started Foucault today. I talked a lot.

dled Maou 2 hardsubbed today, but there was an error--I'm hoping re-concating it will fix the problem.

And it's 8000 degrees today. I walked into campus, but Tz gave me a ride back, because: damn.

Now I will pack >_

Nice that Tz drives you for once!

Have you seen anyone with Maou 3 raw up yet? It's been almost 11 hours! (so irrationally impatient) I've seen posts of screencaps and summaries/commentaries and run away really fast without letting my eyes focus, but no file yet....

Tomas clearly has some emotional issues, as we know -- remember the Tomas/Thomas thing? Maybe this has something to do with the predilection for freshman. Does someone who simply won't be around in a year fill the same need? But then, I'm not exactly up for casual sex, alas.

Five-hour nap. After Maou 2. Much better all around.
