I've had the most wonderful, long weekend with those I love. :)
I worked on Friday afternoon; that may have sucked, but I earned money! Fortuitously, Mali texted me about the plan to visit the Beneluxx Tasting Room, conveniently around the corner from the café. So I joined her, Raf, gabe, and Simon to enjoy tasting portions of wine, cheese, beer, sausage, and chocolate. It was great fun drinking with friends -- and amazingly, I seem to have actually learned a little bit about cheese from working at the cafe! Aged Gouda and semi-soft goat cheeses are sooo good.
The next morning, I found myself enjoying brunch at Honey's with almost the same group. (Simon couldn't make it, but
nullsurface was there.) The rest of the afternoon was leisurely AND productive; we walked down 4th St. to visit Foster's, I did my little meet-and-greet at the farmers' market, and I shopped at Weaver's Way after I took the train to Mt. Airy. I probably spent all the money I'd earned at the café that week, but among the exciting things I acquired were a silicone muffin/cupcake pan, a red paring knife, a grapefruit spoon, raw milk, marshmallows from the fudge lady, new bath bubbles, and chocolate chip cookies from Kimberton farm. The caller at the First Saturday English dance that night was a caller I'd never heard before -- from Boston -- but I liked his dance choices and pleasant calling.
Unintentionally, I slept in on Sunday, but I still managed a few minutes of neatening before I left for south Philly and work at Bob's house. Really, visiting Bob's house is the highlight of any day. :) He told me about some of the beautiful stuff he has in his living room, and we started working on some projects for the coming farmers' market season. Even better than working at Bob's house is looking forward to spending time with a good friend afterwards; my geographer-friend David came to visit me! We drank and talked our way through the evening -- a well-fashioned cocktail at Southwark, beer and frites and mussels and beef at Monk's, a pitcher of margaritas at Cantina Los Caballitos.
Monday was the most relaxing day ever; I basically just laid around, took walks, and chatted about life with David all day. In the evening, I had tea with JLR and beer with Will and talked more about dance and politics, respectively. What else could I possibly want?
Now I'm filled to the brim with tasty Indian-fusion food and tipsy from rum-spiked mixes at Bindi with
grumpy_sysadmin,
tanglethis, and Simon. And I find myself at peace with everyone. I'm ready to be friends again, I'm biking again, my liver is getting lots of exercise, and I understand why things worked out the way they have. I'm in love with all my friends. :)
