so much local food!

This evening, I sautéed some of the abundant greens (reds?) from baby beets in olive oil/salt & pepper/lemon juice (on the advice of the Hot Chef). Earlier today for lunch, I continued my dalliance with the radish sandwich for the second week -- a pumpernickel roll, sweet butter, and slices of cherry bells. My cat Slinky goes ape over zucchini. I found this out while grating zucchini for a chocolate-zucchini bread, and when I turned my back a moment she snatched a mouthful from the bowl as if it was a top prize. Weird cat.

Slinky has good taste. :) Chocolate-zucchini bread sounds tasty...

I don't think Sam ate much of the kale, but it turned out to be just the sort of toy that she likes -- something that she can dangle from her paw and tear apart.

And those kinds of toys are the best kind. Widget's favorite type of toy is pompom with sparkles running through it. He used to like them because they skitter across the floor with just a flick of the paw, and they're easy to carry around in the mouth. A few months ago he discovered that the ones we can get here are not very well-constructed, and so he can hold them between his paws and rip them to bits with his teeth. A single sparkly ball (at €.90 a piece) lasts about two days in our house. But, boy, does he have fun killing it!

Hey, I'm conferencing at Princeton again May 12-27-- maybe we can plan a bit further ahead this time?

Yes!

Are you planning to come down to Philly at any point? Or is there a day or two that would be convenient for hanging out in P-ton?

The general plan is to spend next week in Princeton and then the week after back & forth between Princeton & NYC trying to do research, so if there's a day next week that works for you, that would be perfect.
