'Parting is all we know of heaven, and all we need of hell'

This is the slowest. work day. ever. The only task I had today was to continue cleanup in the aftermath of last week's massive brief -- i.e., shuffle papers and move boxes. I go away from my desk, shuffle some papers, come back, and only like 10 minutes has passed. Uuuuuuugh. So, nothing for it but to write a random lj post.

I'm a child of winter, and I love the snow and Christmas lights of that season with all my heart. I've been enjoying this year's fall, though. :) The past 2-3 weeks have had some days of cool, crisp, wood-scented weather. The leaves had satisfactorily changed color when I visited Lebanon, a couple weekends ago. The deep greens and browns of fall clothes look good on me, and I have a fuzzy new orange sweater. I discovered another apple variety that I like (Pink Lady, in addition to Fuji), so I haven't dreaded the rows and rows of apple bins as much as usual. There have been a lot of greens at the Farmstand, and I enjoyed making kale last night. I also went through the rituals of fall baking -- roasting the amber cup squash from Lebanon for a pie and rubbing butter into oatmeal and brown sugar for an apple crisp. There's cranberries from NJ in the apple crisp, which is exciting and new. One of these days, though, I worry I'll go back to just opening up a can of pumpkin puree for pies. Bah. It's SUCH a lengthy process to roast, scoop, and prepare the $SQUASH; I used a food processor this time, which took a longer time but should produce a smoother result.

I think I would be hard-pressed to choose a favorite B5 opening sequence. sylvansafekeepe told me, I believe, that S4 has his favorite theme music; I agree that its combination of epic and militant is cool, possibly the best. However, I have to say that the S5 music is growing on me. I really like the quotes-montage, because so many characters have such distinctive and evocative voices (like, oh, Kosh...and Kosh...and other people), and the music's sweep somehow evocatively ties the voices and images together.

It turns out that the S5 dvds have the episodes in a slightly different order than the Lurker's Guide. So I did actually watch the episode jere7my recommended, 'Day of the Dead'. The atmosphere was right -- the wee hours of the morning, after baking, sleepy but content, curled under a fuzzy blanket. It really is a beautiful episode -- the celestial decorations, Sheridan & Delenn, a relaxed Mr. Garibaldi, a message from Kosh(!), and the return of Mr. Morden(!!). (But his close-trimmed hair? -- what were they thinking?!) Most poignant of all, though, were Adira and Londo. Awww. ::weeps:: That's the saddest part of his story, to me. He was so happy when he thought she was returning to him in 'Interludes and Examinations'!

And, in the most shallow comment yet for this entry -- I also started to watch 'Strange Relations'. Hmm...yeah. I have a huge crush on Byron. ...guh. I sense that a re-haul of my icons is coming soon.
