It's been a while since I really wrote a semi-serious paper, being in CoSci classes at ARC and all. The recent discussion I had about learning disabilities piqued my interest, so in writing the research paper for my business communications class (sigh), for the heck of it I estimated the speed at which I researched and wrote a paper with minimal effort, taking minimal breaks.
I came up with a generous estimate that if I really apply myself to speeding through things and, to be honest, trying really hard not to care about this thing, I can write just less than a page per hour. I felt like I was flying through that thing, and I am genuinely interested in the subject matter.
So here I am, about 8 hours later, looking at a not-yet-proof-read paper I'd probably give a solid B if TA-me was feeling pretty generous and got to grade it. Honestly, sometimes how I made it through a paper-heavy major like Psych is beyond me.
