I've been keeping myself terribly busy lately and have been doing all sorts of crazy things in efforts to Get Out and Enjoy Life (both pretty worthy goals, I think). Many of these things have involved such hardships as talking to strangers and expressing myself, and I feel like I've risen to the challenge quite admirably. Am very proud of self and deserving of many wonderful compliments.
- started learning to play the ukulele; I'm quite charmed by an instrument where it's possible to both breathe and play at the same time. Also, I know it's probably bad, but I also like being able to slouch while practicing.
- juggling club! Nice people; pretty fun.
- went around with The Gays putting up fliers for the National Equality March next month.
- relatedly, went to a small number of businesses soliciting donations for a raffle to raise money for buses to the National Equality March.
- relatedly, bought a ticket for a bus to the National Equality March. I'm expecting it to either be pretty fun or excruciating; I guess it's about a fourteen-hour bus ride each way, and we're expecting to return sometime before 8 am on a Monday (just in time to try to make it to work by 9 am). On the other hand, The Gays! I like them.
- trying to go to karate class pretty regularly. Also nice people, also fun, and nice to reconnect with martial arts.
- taking a rock climbing class. Man, I love me some exercise. It makes me want to eat constantly. The other day, I drank a half gallon of whole milk (I can't actually take credit for the whole carton; Katrina put some on her cereal in the morning), and it was delicious.
- work still alternates between being pretty boring and being busy enough to be challenging. Lately it's been more towards the busy end of the spectrum, so I'm pretty happy.
Exciting things in the future: visiting the Cities this weekend and seeing, Dan, dad, and extended family! Visiting Hawaii in November and seeing nuclear family, extended family, and pretty things (and also not working for a whole week)! And probably others.
