HP Likes and Dislikes
Yes, I've stolen this idea from the lovely badjujuboo and dysonrules, but thought it was a good idea because I can never remember most of this when I'm asked, so here it is. These go for fic and art, btw.
Kinks, genres or special requests: I'll read just about anything that's well written, but a few of my favorite things are: unusual jobs, daddy to young children, MPREG, de-aging/time-travel, tattoos/piercing, parseltongue. Also, I really dislike Ginny so as little of her as possible would be appreciated.
Squicks/Things you'd hate: Infidelity, Ginny, gender-bending, humiliation kink, non-con, non-magic AU, UNHAPPY ENDINGS, main characters (permanently) dying
Common HP Cliches you DO enjoy: best-friend Pansy, snarky-as-hell Draco, potions accident, fights leading into sex, smart Harry, different sorting, good Malfoys, I'm totally cool with Weasley and Dumbledore bashing :) I also have a love/hate relationship with Snape.
Common HP Cliches you DO NOT enjoy: feminization, Rule 63 (girl!Harry), creature!fic (other than Veela), Auror!fic, clueless!Harry, partners being cruel to each other just because they can
Era/Epilogue/Next Gen preferences: EWE and I like Next Gen
Preferred Pairings (Slash): Harry/Draco, Harry/Snape, Snape/Lupin, Snape/Sirius Harry/Sirius (of-age, please!), tons of crossover pairings are fun as well.
Preferred Pairings (Het): Harry/Hermione, Harry/Luna, Harry/Daphne, tons of crossover pairings are fun as well.
Gen Characters: I love seeing the snakes prove they are good and not evil. Neville and Luna are fantastic friends. Teddy and the miscellaneous kids are always fun, and so are the assorted Weasleys with the exception of Ginny and Ron.
Dislikes: Ginny! I have always seen her as one of the groupies/fangirls who only like Harry for what he is and not who. I'm not a big fan of gender-bender kinds of fic, but I have read a few that were very good. In general, I prefer the kink to stay on the light to medium side of the spectrum, but again I've read extremes that I've enjoyed. Infidelity, humiliation kink, non-con, non-magic AU, UNHAPPY ENDINGS. There are exceptions to all of those dislikes but they are extremely few and far between.
Kinks: Humor, snark, banter, plot - especially character-driven plot, any form of relationship angst (jealousy, possessiveness, temporary break-ups, forced bonding, misunderstandings), light bondage (consensual only, please), UST, AU, hurt/comfort, tenderness, first time, wall!sex, furniture!sex, flirtation, any sort of emotional scene with rain lol, courtship/seduction, post-Hogwarts, post-war, unusual locations, unusual post-Hogwarts careers, redemption, realistic happy endings, hopeful endings (HEA how your characters need it), public or semi-public sex, almost discovered sex, food smut, voyeurism, snogging, hand-holding, secret crushes, characters who have friends/lives of their own, daddy to young children, MPREG, de-aging/time-travel, tattoos/piercing, parseltongue.
I'm usually really easy to please with fic or art. I love things that are well-written and have finished things that aren't because the story was worth reading even with the mistakes. I've also broken every one of my own "rules" and enjoyed fic for just about every one of them besides the Snape bashing. I've read tons of things since I've been in HP fandom on and off since 2004 but know there are TONS of fic out there I would love to read whether its been written yet or not. :) If anyone really wants to check out some of my favorites, I've got a list Here that shows a few of my favorites although that part hasn't been updated in a while and it also has what I've been reading lately with notes and I've got yet another page of resources that I've collected.
