A lot has been said about how to prevent rape. Women should learn self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark. Women shouldn't have long hair and women shouldn't wear short skirts. Women shouldn't leave drinks unattended. Fuck, they shouldn't dare to get drunk at all ( Read more... )

Ok... I know I'm going to get jumped on for this, but Women do have to take responsibility for their own actions. I mean if your going to go to a frat party, alone, and drink a lot, with other drunk people, claiming that the guy who was so drunk that he doesn't remember it, took advantage of your being drunk is just irresponsible. Ladies, rape is wrong, but it's also wrong to do stupid things like going to frat parties without a friend to watch your back or to go jogging in the dark, or *gasp* leave your drink unattended at a shady party... Women need to be responsible for their own safety, just the same as guys are and nothing irks me more than the implication that no matter how irresponsible a girl is, the result is in no way her fault. I mean if some one decided to drink too much and then have a drunken fight, we don't say it's not their fault that the other drunk hit them... it's the first drunks fault for making a bad choice and the second ones fault for walking into it...

Now lets see a version of your post that both tells guys it's not right, and tells girls to not do stupid things (yes, I'm implying some, not all, but some girls just happen to open the gate and taunt the wolves to come in and play). Thats the version of your post that I'll repost.

i agree, sort of.

heres some revision:

do tell your women friends how to be safe and avoid rape.
everyone should learn self-defense.
women shouldn't leave drinks unattended.
women shouldn't get drunk at parties and not expect some consequences.

however, if a woman (or girl) is walking home alone and gets raped, its not her fault in anyway. If a woman's judgement is not impared, and she is raped, it is in no way her fault.
