I had such a nice weekend! Friday was a snow day, so I went home early(ish) and I e-mailed my draft for Writers' Style. (I'm not actually sure where the apostrophe goes. I'm not sure if it's plural or not.) Then we went to Old Chicago where I had a delightfully mediocre calzone and an absolutely wonderful Turtle cheesecake. (Made with real turtles!)
Then Saturday I slept in a little, and then I did laundrey (which might not sound fun, but it was free and the washer/dryer worked. FUN!) and listened to the Beatles and did math (not fun). Then Mary called and we talked for a long, long time about ham, the Egyptian football team (soccer here in the States), and the Bronte sisters. Then I went shopping and I got a new lower-half of a swimsuit, as mine went AWOL. Um, but now I can't find the top half, so I guess it was sort of pointless. We were going to have steak for dinner, but it didn't work out, so we went to Don Pablos, where I had a wonderful steak fajita. The wait staff put a sombrero on my head and had the other customers wish me happy birthday and then I got free dessert. I can tolerate a lot for free sweets.
Then we went back and did presents. I got a beautiful hand-carved . . . eh. It's like a trivet, but without the little feet. Same concept. It was donated to the silent auction my mom was volunteering for and I fell absolutely in love with it, so my mom bid on it. ♥ It's got all these ornate vines and two little birds. It's gorgeous. They also gave my a $25 gift card to Byerly's. My sister and her Asian gave me a small tin of peaches in heavy syrup, a paperclip, a 75 cent off coupon for something useless, and $19. Said nineteen dollars will go to the Mary Poppins special edition DVD, which is coming out Tuesday. Because nothing says adulthood like classic Disney films.
Today we went to church, which didn't suck for a change. Then I had the rest of my calzone and some fries, and some Boston cream cake. Good stuff! And then I got some music from Emily, and got my draft back. My professor liked it! Obviously I have to fix a lot of stuff, but she thought I was funny, which is pretty much the highest compliment you can give me. :D Then I picked up some milk on my way back to school, where I was greeted with a big Happy Birthday sign and a cylinder full of chocolates, from my roommates and Charity respectively.
All in all, wonderful weekend! Especially as I'd been all gloomy and emo and cranky all week; I feel great now!
I'm gonna go drink tea, proofread some stuff, do linguistics, ignore my math, and maybe watch Star Trek. (I never watch it anymore, which is sad.)
Psst -- I have three days until Spring Break! Anyone not busy between the eighth and the 18th? Caitlin, Cathy, Emily, Mary, I am talking to you.
