Ok, so it's been a week since I posted. Bad me!
Last weekend Heidi, Randy, Parker and I went camping. Dave didn't go because he was being a party-pooper and we didn't want him to go! (Actually, he was just being a grump and didn't want to go.)
Camping was fun but I found that I am not used to having so much leisure time on my hands. I actually got bored!!! I so wanted to be doing stuff at home rather than just sitting there looking at each other and enjoying nature. Normally I am not like that at all!
We did explore some around the area that we have tried to camp at which has always been full so that was nice. We were surprised that people didn't actually go up camping for the whole weekend. A lot of the people in our camp only stayed one night and then left. We did have a short thunderstorm on Saturday morning but it didn't last long and then it was blue skies from there.
On Saturday afternoon we went to the river and swam with Parker a little bit. The water was cold at first but then we got used to it. Parker really liked the swimming. I wish we were in a little calmer part so that he could have splashed around. I guess he will have to wait a few weeks when we go again to the hot springs pool.
Parker was so cute while we were camping. The trailer has two big king beds so Parker slept with me both nights. He fell asleep pretty good on Friday night. Most of the night he had to be touching me so he ended up turning around like a clock on the bed in various time positions. (if that makes sense!) Unfortunately on Saturday night, we didn't fare as well. He did not want to fall asleep. All he wanted to do was play and jump around all over the trailer. All three of us tried to calm him down and lay on the bed but he would eventually get bored and start playing again. Randy was a little aggravated by that point and said that none of us would win the parenting award because all we did was feed into his not wanting to go to bed routine and reinforcing that behavior.
Oh well! He had fun and did eventually settle down when it got dark. We decided to go to bed early so that Parker would eventually calm down enough to fall asleep. I told him it was night night time and then snuggle bugged a little. From that point on, I did not say a word to Parker even though I was dying inside. It was just too funny! He found my eyes and started saying Auntie Amy's eyes and then lifting my eyelids. There's something about an almost 2-year old saying your name that is just precious. He was just chattering away and then did eventually fall asleep when he couldn't see anything.
Oh, I almost forgot! On the way back from swimming, we saw 3 deer in the river. They let us watch them for a few minutes and get some pictures. Parker thought they were so neat. I'll try to post some pictures later tonight if I can be dragged away from watching the Olympics. It's been nice to actually see them happening right then rather then having them be time-delayed, except for the fact that it makes us stay up WAY too late!
Have a great Thursday!
