Uh... Huh. Well, I don't think anyone really knows how we get here. Just that we do. And the journals are like some kinda combination between a phone and a TV. I dunno how they work, just that they're real handy. The barrier is to keep us in. Or maybe it's to keep bad things out... Hmm...

And uh... If you write in the journal, it gets sent to everyone who has a journal. They can all read it in their own journals. That's why you gotta be careful what you write in there. But the same goes for talkin'. The journal can record what you're sayin', so it takes your voice and sends it to the other journals. Phones can do that too. You can talk to people who're really far away as long as you both have phones. ... Or journals, in this case.
