Apparently all of the children-killing car bombs and mass genocides in the world do not raise much concern these days. But a blind dolphin's extinction does. I am inclined to two theories on the reasons for this:
1) Maybe people get so uppity about an animal species dying off because animals are supposedly innocent, unlike Iraqi or African children. Perhaps such views are bred from America's blatant Christian theocratic ways? I suppose the fact that some animal species "resort to 'forceful copulation' (rape)" is excusable as such doesn't threaten the typical right-wing male dominated household and in fact keeps all the Eves in their place. As God's Adams, men are hereby tasked with being the benevolent Noahs who must save all the weird critters from the upcoming n-th apocalypse that will be global warming.
2) Or, maybe the latest generations being raised around video game violence has permanently tuned their brains to accepting human-on-human harm as okay?
Whichever theory might be most correct, I have to wonder whether the baiji dolphin isn't smarter than humans? Maybe the blind little dolphins decided to vanquish their existence after seeing just how hopelessly messed up this entire world's become? Excuse me while I go enjoy a can of not-dolphin-free tuna as I watch flipper laugh his ass off at the pathetic people.
