Character name: Roy Mustang
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Probably far too bisexual for his own good.
Category: Teacher/Faculty
Year: N/A
Subject: Chemistry
Extracurricular activity/Sport activity: None
Experimentations: (With, but privately against.) He participates in experiments when required, but is left in the dark about the true reasons why they are being carried out. His specialty is burns --he is extremely skilled with both natural and chemically-induced fires. He is often called upon when extreme torture is needed.
Occupation: Chemistry Teacher/Department of Science Head
Appearance: Though not physically imposing at 173 cm (or 5’8 ft) tall, Roy is nonetheless fit and well-proportioned. His eyes and hair are so dark they often shine blue under white light. His mixed background giving him a handsome, somewhat exotic look, he has short black hair with bangs that fall into his eyes and slender, Asian features on a pale, oval face.
He usually wears dark colors, particularly the rich blue that he has grown used to since his days in the military, but his favorite casual outfit includes dark slacks, a white business shirt, and a large black coat that he likes to drape over his shoulders. He also has a fondness for white gloves and likes to match them with his outfits, particularly during official meetings or during cold days. During formal events, he always wears a black suit with a black bowtie. He dislikes wearing any short or revealing outfits because he is not fond of the faint scars he has received during his time at war.
Personality: To the casual observer, Roy is a world-class asshole with an annoying amount of charm and an ego as big as a planet. He doesn’t give a damn what most people think of him and is willing to do pretty much anything to get what he wants, including snooping, manipulation and some shameless sucking up. He uses his good looks and his sweet tongue to charm others into a one-night stand or a few dates, but is rarely serious about any of them. While always respectful of those who rank higher than him (both in the school and the military), he is usually lazy and arrogant around those below him. He has the tendency to procrastinate and greatly dislikes paperwork, which usually result in him grading papers at the very last minute.
On the flip side, Roy is an intensely private person with a soft side. He rarely talks about his past or his time at war, and he greatly resents being forced into harming others. He likes dogs and has a softness for children, although he often pretends otherwise. He rarely means anyone real harm and will often go to great lengths to protect those he cares about, most of whom he doesn’t even show any obvious affection to. After surviving the military academy and the battlefield, he is fiercely loyal to his true friends, especially those that are just as willing to die for him as he is for them. He suffers from occasional depression when he remembers the war and those that died, but for the most part, he hides his pain under a smug and egoistical façade.
His most important moral code is this: he values peace more than power, but believes that power is the only way to achieve peace.
History: Born to a white father and an Asian mother, Roy grew up with his father’s side of the family. His father came from a line of military men, and like his forefathers before him, he passed down a rigid sense of duty and respect to his son. In his youth, Roy learned the fundamentals of science from an strict old man whom he only called Sensei. Afterwards, though against his sensei’s wishes, he attended a military academy and learned, amongst other things, how to handle firearms and how to kill. However, the military soon learned that his specialty was not in physical combat but in science and strategy. They funded him to go to a top tier science university, where he then graduated with military honors.
Shortly afterwards, Roy participated in a short-lived war that called for his ability in chemical warfare. His experiences on the battlefield changed him forever, and it was then that he promised himself he would stop all unnecessary bloodshed and the murdering of innocents. The military, however, commended him a hero and promoted him to the rank of Colonel. Then, to his endless surprise, he was assigned to be a professor to an elite academy, one that the military approved of but did not control. Though initially unhappy with such a tedious job, Roy then learned that there were still innocents being murdered on his watch and was soon obsessed with figuring out why such a thing was happening at a seemingly perfect high school.
