Summertime.

It's properly summer here, which means the museling is back having the time of his life at art camp and seems to be spending the rest of his daylight hours in our pool. We went to our town's Fourth of July parade last week, we've been eating tons of strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, and watermelon, and mostly we're being summery.

I'm supposed to be using these camp weeks for my own projects, since the museling has about a month off at the end of the summer that'll be full-on family time for us all. Unfortunately, instead of being passionately creative I'm kind of listlessly working on sorting out a Kurt/Blaine fic I wrote as a freewriting exercise forever ago and am trying unsuccessfully to make myself daydream stories out of my OMGCP headcanons. (I have lots and lots of character headcanons and a strong desire to write about Jack and Lardo in particular, but I have no plots. I've realized today that part of it is a problem with me and the medium of comics: I can't quite imagine Jack as a 3D person inhabiting the physical world. He's full and fascinating as a character but firmly on the page. Thinking of people as real is apparently an important part of my process.)

So I kind of feel like I should take up some amazing new creative hobby, like competitive needlepoint or gluten-free basket-weaving, just to get the juices flowing. Loving things is awesome. I want to be loving something.

At least, since it's summer, I can be grumbly while sitting out on the porch.
