11/30 Jurassic Muse
Usually while eating breakfast or checking tumblr or whatnot I watch The Daily Show or The Nightly Show, but this week while they're off the air I've been watching Jurassic Park in ten minute chunks. I'm amazed by how well it stands up for being made in 1993, although I almost burst out laughing when the kids were so excited to find a CD-ROM in the car. Ooh, a CD-ROM! So fancy! :D
But then, 1993 was a long time ago, wasn't it? It doesn't feel that way to me, not until I remember that I went to see this movie opening night with a big pack of friends from high school. I remember the theater shaking with the booming footsteps of the T-Rex. I remember my skin crawling when the water rippled in the glass. I remember clutching my friend Jeff's hand for dear life and everyone in the theater shrieking in surprise again and again because none of us had any idea of what was coming. I remember being young and giddy and in such awe of the effects that we couldn't stop talking about the movie for two hours afterwards.
It's not the same experience watching ten minutes of it at a time, but it's kind of fun to remember being crazy on sugar and friends and a movie that blew us all away. It feels like a lifetime ago, that me, but then again I nearly flailed out of my chair at the Civil War trailer when I went to see the new Star Wars with mr. muse, so I guess I still do get that giddy. No sugar required. :D
