Writing meme.

I almost never post memes, but I love talking about writing and won't be doing much actual writing for the next couple of weeks, so if anyone wants to ask this'll keep my hand in, at least a little...

J. Which fic has been the easiest to write?

It's hard to answer precisely without talking about what "easiest" means, but off of the top of my head "24/7/365" stands out for the way it rolled off my fingers in a rush in a single day in which I was incredibly busy with other things but still wrote those many thousands of words. It just poured out of me. In part it was the subject matter, which I'd been thinking about for a while, and in even larger part it was the format, in which I wrote a bunch of quite short sections, so I could sit down and bang one out in a couple of minutes out of order and then go on with my day.

AJ. Which is your favorite site to post fic?

Livejournal. I like talking to people and hearing specifically what they respond to, and so LJ's commenting system gives me the most chance of getting that kind of specific feedback. Also, I like using my different icons to respond. :) Unfortunately, it's rather a ghost town here these days, so the AO3 is my second choice, because I do get kudos and sometimes comments as well. It's direct feedback to me. Tumblr is by far my least favorite place to post fic, because people so rarely talk to me about it. As a writer, I like hearing from readers about what moved them or worked for them, and I just almost never get that on Tumblr. I will usually see a like/reblog, but there's rarely even any indication of why someone has done it. It feels very empty to me... but better than nothing for sure! :)

AL. Talk about a review that made your day.

Every positive review makes my day, but every time people pull apart my writing with some detail and show me phrases or paragraphs or themes that moved them just makes me melt with joy. I have a few readers who did/do that with regularity, and it means the world to me. I want people to be able to read and enjoy without having to write a scholarly paper on what I'm doing behind the scenes to create the fic, but I do work hard to craft these stories, and when someone sees that and responds to it in a personal way it makes me feel like all of that work really matters.

Thanks for asking! :D

Oh gosh, the feedback mechanisms on Tumblr are atrocious if you want to have coherent discussions with more than one person at once. I too lament the exodus of Glee peeps from LJ if only for the lack of threaded comments in my Internet day-to-day lately. As a longtime LJ-er, I thank you for keeping active on here.

Oh, threaded comments. *dreamy sigh* I love them so much. Tumblr is made for talking at people, not talking to them, and as a medium it drives me bananas. I'm so glad people like you remain here on LJ! Thanks for giving me a reason to remain active!
