Being good to yourself.

For personal reasons, I'm going rather stir-crazy today. I'm restless and frustrated, unable to concentrate. The thousand words I've written have been pulled out of me like taffy. (But hey, that's more than I'd thought I'd written! Go, me ( Read more... )

It's about 35 degrees right now. Practically Spring Break weather! (LOL.) Has it warmed up a bit for you as well?

I'm trying to feel my way around, see what I feel like 'dabbling' in. There are so many possibilities, I tend to get paralyzed with indecision. That, and I think it's been so long since I've focused on anything but school that I've forgotten how to do anything else. I used to write stories, among other things. I'd love to get back into that, finish some that have been on my backburner, but haven't felt the nudge to do it yet. Maybe the thing to do is to simply open the file and read what I've got so far. "Dabble" in it, as it were. And see if that nudges me one way or another.

In a way, I feel like my creative muscles have atrophied in the process of being in school, and I have to exercise them again in order to find that 'muscle memory' and dive back in. The thing to do is simply to start, I suppose. That's the only way to regain that strength. :)

Don't you love that analogy of a flying fish? It feels light and bouncy to me, makes me smile at the thought, that gliding along and leaping in the air. Heeeeee. It may become a mantra for me, for a while: BE the flying fish, you ARE the flying fish! Whoo! (LOL.)

Having chocolate and singing along with Glee sounds delightful to me. Now here's the real question: when you sing along with those songs, whose part do you sing? Or do you like to switch back and forth between the parts? :D

Hope you're having a lovely Saturday!

It's 50 here today! Positively tropical! :D Hope you're well, my favorite flying fish! It's easy to forget how to play. I'm glad you're giving yourself permission to re-learn.

Gosh, which part do I sing? It really depends on the song. I often sing along with Chris Colfer, though he can sing higher than I can (#contraltoproblems), or Lea Michele (ditto), although Darren often has some great harmonies and background riffs that I'll sing with him, like in "Call Me Maybe." Darren's range is a better match for mine, so I can really belt with him in a way I can't with Chris or Lea's high notes. Mostly I sing along with whatever part interests me the most that day, and I often switch around during the song because I don't have to share the lead and can sing them all. :D There are some I always sing, though: Kurt's parts in the "Happy Days/Get Happy" and "For Good" duets, Blaine's part in "Come What May," Isabelle's part in "At the Ballet," to name a few.
