I'm not one for memes, but this one looks fun. If you give me a character or a pairing, I'll tell you five-ish things that are a part of my own personal canon about him/her/them*. BtVS, AtS, Firefly, SGA, SG-1, due South, Sports Night are all up for grabs. Did I forget a fandom I've written (if not posted) in? Try me ( Read more... )

Gosh... Hmm.

1. Dana is in love with Casey. She probably always has been. She doesn't expect to be with him, doesn't even necessarily admit that she has those feelings toward him, but she's drawn to him in a way that really isn't good for her.

2. Casey isn't in love with Dana. A part of him wants to be, because she's beautiful and smart and funny and a good friend, but he just doesn't feel that way for her. Still, it seems like the easiest solution to his love problems, and he does love her, so he chases her anyway.

3. Dana and Casey can crack each other up with a look when they're drinking.

4. Casey is afraid of Dana. She's beautiful and smart and funny, and on some level he's never known what to do with women like that. If he hadn't had a burping contest with her back in the day he might still be afraid to stand up to her; that way he can think she's one of the guys, even if she so isn't. Have you seen her legs? And the way she can demolish his writing with a few quick strokes of her pencil?

5. Dana wishes that Casey would either see her as one of the guys or wouldn't. She wants to be able to pal around like Dan and Casey do, and she wants to be respected and admired for her brains and her beauty. It's hard doing both at the same time, and it makes her unsure of how to act around him.

Oh, I like #2 and #5 in particular. I also think that Dana knows that #2 is true, or else they'd be together. The dating plan was stupid, but I think that Dana knew how stupid it was and that it would probably end their relationship, even if she wanted more than anything to be proven wrong. The tension between them prevents Dana from being one of the guys, and she feels that and knows everything would be easier if this weren't the case, but I think that if he ever did come to think of her as one of the guys, it would break her heart.

Thanks! I asked for this pairing because I don't read it, but find it really interesting to think about.

Although I don't like 'shipping Dana with Casey, since I think they're not all that good for each other, I do think their relationship is interesting. So thanks for nudging me to think about it! :)
